Anyone on their 2nd LapBand?
I need to find some hope and need to know if anyone on here had to have their band replaced, repaired, whatever. I have not lost any weight since Jan. 21 (repair surgery), but have gained 20+ lbs. Has anyone had any success with a 2nd surgery (of the same procedure)??? I go in for my 4th fill next Tuesday (only at 4 ccs so far). I did my best at 5 ccs or so before. Oh and my fills are 6 weeks apart!!
I dieted and exercised for MONTHS before and after my repair surgery and it did NOTHING. I gained. This last month I've been so disgusted that I've just been eating what I want (within reason - not a lot of junk food) and I haven't gained any weight. In fact, if I eat what I want and keep it to smaller portions (including junk food) I lose weight consistently, but of course I cannot keep that up because I'm not satisfied and/or I'm hungry within 2 hours. I lost 125 lbs with my 1st surgery and now I cannot seem to lose anything. I JUST DON'T GET IT!
Also, this time around I'm focusing on strength training/resistance and not so much cardio.

You need to speak to your doctors office ..see if they can help you pin point what is occuring they might have a dietician or nut that can help you as well ...
To be honest to me it's always calories in vs out.. if I consume too many calories and sodium I gain.. if I keep my cals at 1200-1400 and exercise I lose weight. Everyone is different .. maybe you need a series of blood work make sure everything is okay.
Speak to your doctors office you had the surgery to be successful and they should be there for you.

Talk to Dr Wagner. Be HONEST with him.
most importantly, be honest with YOURSELF!!
Hermosa is right... Calories in vs Calories Out. yes, it is that simple.
A good combination of cardio and weight training should do it! You need the cardio to burn the calories, you need the strength training to build the lean muscle! Do both!
Good Luck!

I was exercising 2x a day and eating really good, but that didn't make a damn difference. I didn't lose weight.
I don't lie to myself or others. I'm open about everything.
Dr. Wagner didn't remember my repair surgery 1 month out from my surgery. He is not a good bedside manner doctor by any means. My last fill I didn't even get to see him because now he has all these chicks and lab ppl working who are running the show. Oh, and the dietician is a FRUITCAKE! UGH! She's so junior high and asks me all these questions as if I'm your average-in-denial-obese binger.
Strength training is much more effective at burning fat/calories and is the only way to actually change the shape of one's body. The more muscle mass one has, the more those muscles do to burn calories while just sitting. Cardio is simply good for the heart and lungs. I can get my heart pumping just fine with strength training. Cardio just wears out my lungs. I've done a lot of research on both and have found that resistance training is much better for your bones, your limbs and actual fat burning. Also, the cardio eats up the muscle for energy. Why do you think body builders don't run and why runners aren't buff???

That's great, but are those muscles defined?? You can pump all day long, but does he/she actually have definition or is it being eaten away by his/her running?! Research is really picking up on the fact that cardio is very hard on the body - high impact exercises like running and such. Walking is more ideal (doesn't do a damn thing for me though, while others is works wonders). I only have 1 body and I don't want to be 45+ years old with bad knees, back, etc. I want MUSCLE to protect those limbs and avoid those later set problems.
Unfortunately, my doctor wants to take it slow on fills so that my band never slips again. He was really aggresive the 1st surgery, but not so much this time. I guess I understand, but not to be losing any weight is really depressing.
His "dietician" is somewhat a fruit cake. She wants us to eat anywhere from 800-1200 calories (which I cannot seem to do right now without restriction). I told "Yeah, that makes sense because I lost weight when I kept it under 1200 calories and I think I screwed up my metabolism so much that it doesn't know how to manage any more calories than 1200, thus why I gained and cannot lose until I get to my sweet spot again." She completely disagreed with me and said that isn't the case. How could is NOT be? If she wants me to eat 800-1200 calories, is that not just what I said was the only way I lost weight in the first place?! What a moron! Any time I ever eat around 1200 calories or below, I see a difference on the scale the very next day. But I don't do that every day because my hunger isn't the same every day.
I'm just hoping my 4th fill is a winner. I'm sure it will be. I'm starting to skip snacks because I don't always feel hungry. :) Eggs are my lifesaver!

I eat 1200 calories a day some days I eat 1300-1400 calories my doctors office doesn't not recommend above 1400 calories a day and they encourage that amount only if your actively working out.. the days I don't work out I try to keep my calories a little under 1200...
Like I said everyone is different .. you need to stick to one method for a short period of time to see if it works .. exercsing 2x a day is not necessary unless your eating approx 1600 -1800 calories a day... you need to find a balance you don't need to KILL it at the gym if your not consuming a far amount of calories you end up creating a huge defict..
To be honest I don't really understand your rational but this what works for me.. if I'm not going to the gym I eat approx. 1000-1200 if I work out 1200-1400 and I usually burn 400-500 calories so my NET ends up being 800 - 1000 .. I usually do treadmill and or weight, body pump class , zumba some jogging .. I do not work out for long extrenous periods of time.. I don't need to because I'm not consuming enough to need too..
I have 4.9 ccs in my band... I just had a .2 tweek and it has helped.
