I go to my first surgical consult today to get my journey started!!!! For me this is a HUGE success because i usually talk myself out of things by telling myself reasons of why i shouldn't do it and they usually are considering what other people would feel. But not this time, i am doing this for ME!!

Congrats to you!!!  When it comes to your health you are smart to listen to your own heart and the advise of your medical team.  Family is real good to tell you things out of their own fear.  None of my family wanted me to have WLS, but then they were not 325 pounds with new health issues coming up daily.  I did not listen to them, but did my own research and decided to go with the lap band and that was 11/09/09 and I don't regret it.  % am now down to 202 and I feel and look great.  I encourage to continue to read and to post on OH.  I find that by doing so it keeps me motivated to keep taking baby steps forward.  You will certainly have a new learning experience with the band, but we are all here to help you through it and to see that you succeed.  Best of luck to you and please keep us posted.  We will make room for you on the losers bench.

Congratulations!  Sounds like you are in the right place.  I have never been as strong in my life as i became when i started the quest to get the band.  I haven't looked back and today I am wearing a pair of pants that don't have a W after the number!!!   Best decision i ever made in my life for ME:-)

Good morning! When I decided to have Lapband surgery there was no stopping me. I only told my family and close friends. I did my own homework and I really didn't care about any negative opinions. I also needed to do it for ME. Surround yourself with a great support system. If you don't have it at home we will gladly cheer you on each step of the way. Check with the surgeon today to see if they have a support group. Let us know how your appointment goes. I am excited for you.

CONGRATS to YOU!!!! Getting my band was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Remember you are making this decision for you. This is your life and no one can live it but you. I hope everything goes well with your consult. I know everything will be fine. OH is a good place to be when you are about to start your journey. And also to when you have all these EMOTIONS about WLS.
GOOD LUCK and keep us posted on how it goes

Thanks everyone for all of your support!! My first appoinment went well. My insurance only requires that i have 100 lbs or more to loose (check) and have a bmi over 40(check) so now on to getting my clearances!! I have my psyc eval next wed and im going to get mr doc to put in the referrals for the rest tomorrow!  Excited and nervous because i expected to havr to loose some weight before i got to the point of getting all of the clearances so its going faster than i expected(but im not complaining)
