So worth it-post op appt today
I went to my post op appointment today and I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was. I got dressed this morning and then got re-dressed. My 16W's looked Frumpy on me and the jacket flaired in the back and made it all the worse. I got down the pair of 14W's that I bought 3 yrs ago while doing Medifast and the tags were still on them. THEY FIT!!!! My next problem is that they were Navy and I never wear navy so what shoes was I doing to wear with them. I had bought a pair of sassy shoes a few years back(about 6) that I thought were sexy but my feet were too swollen to wear them comfortably. YUP!! They fit too:-) I was on top of the world when I walked into my surgeons office. I am down 26lbs from my initial weigh in and 6 new pounds since surgery(12 days) They noticed I cut my hair and complemented me on my outfit. I thought that they must see so many people that they have been able to change their lives and save their lives. What a great thing to do! I am in the beginning of my journey and already feel like a new person.
On the post op part my stomache bruising was not normal. The nurse has never seen a stomache as purple as mine except once. Not good...I was then told very sternly that whatever I am doing needs to stop ASAP or I am going to lose my band. It was like telling a kid you are taking their new car away. Apparently I have physically been doing more than I should be doing. I know that with pain medicine it can mask some stuff. I definately recommend to any newbies to take it easy. I ended up with a large ( about 7 inches by 12 inches) bruise from having a hematoma at the port site. This can cause infection, etc. so this chicky aint lifting nothing for the next few weeks.
I am so excited for this journey and the self esteem that I am getting back already I feel like NOTHING is going to stop this train to skinny. My new slogan is and I say this to myself a couple of times a day, " Nothing tastes as good as skiiny feels"

CONGRATS!!!! I know how you feel. I went for my 5wk post-op and first fill yesterday. I had swelling and fluid around my port. Dr had to drain that to give me my 1cc fill. You have to really take it easy, girlfriend. But Im soo happy and excited for you. It just AWESOME about the clothes. Keep it up!!! You are doing wonderful.

I saw you had the selling, etc. Did it hurt when they did the fill? I haven't asked anyone yet but am definately curious. I haven't thought much about it but now that it is real I am curious. Congrats on 30lbs. Isn't is awesome? I am so happy I made this decision that even if it hurts when they fill it I know it will be worth the pain:-)
Keep up with your success too!

Well NO, not really. I have a tolerance with pain. But before he took out the fluid around my port, it really did'nt bother me. Now before, when he couldn't find my port, YEP!! I can say it was uncomfortable. Im still a lil sore where the needles were inserted.
Thanks on the 30lbs. I didn't say anything, but when I went I was still at surgery wt. I was very disappointed, but this morning I had lost 8lbs. So I know now it was jus****er wt. I had surgery last Friday, so it was all the fluid from that. Im very happy with my decision too. I think its one of the best decisions concernng myself, that I have ever made. Well except for last Friday.
You probably won't have any pain with your fill. My hubby doesn't like needles and everything hurt him. He went thru his fill like it was nothing. It only took, like 5 mins for his fill. It was nothing like mine. So I think you will be alright when its time for your first fill.

Congrats on the great start!! Keep it up! I am now 19 months post op and I have dropped 125 pounds with the lap band. I love it and never want to loose it. You just have to do your part to work it.. I was very nervous about my first fill, but thr Dr. Used a local on it and all you feel from the needle going into the port is some pressure. The fills ago ny surgrons group decided that it was more painful to use the lidocane so they stopped it. I do believe that it is a mind game issue because I have zero pain tolerance. I get through it by not looking at the four inch needle and I have never had a problem plus it saves my insurance about $100. By me not getting the lidocane. Hang in there ladies. You can get through this one bite at a time. Best of luck.
