Hello All-

I am waiting to see if I am approved for Lap-Band surgery.
I am hopeful and scared.  Anytime I have to be cut open for any reason I freak out!  I am scared I might be left sick from having the surgery.  I have talked to those that are ok and some are sick.
Is there anything someone can tell me that will make me feel more positive?  I am so tired of being fat, out of breath, knees hurting, legs not working right, looking like the 'fat gal'.
Anyway, I would appreciate prayers as I do want to be approved.  I am 62 yrs. young and not quite finished living yet.
Thank you  so much - let me hear from you.

I wish you the best of luck! Your positive outlook on life should pull you through this. Its a step in the right direction!! I just had my surgery last Friday and I feel just fine.  Nothing out of the norm. Yes, everyone is different but I feel like everything went as it should have and I am thankful for that. Note that this is a surgery that is done quite often these days so its better studied and there is all kinds of great info out there for you now. Mine went so well that my father is getting his done too.  Just being on the pre-op liquid diet alone he has lost nearly 35 lbs and already his joints are recovering!! You will do just fine as long as you listen to your doctor and fully commit to a life change of eating right. I am not telling you anything you don't already know:) I wish you the best of luck and all the success in the world with your new journey!!!

Hi Bassngirl,

It's always scary when you go under the knife. I know I was !!! This was only my second operation in my life the first one I was 8 yrs old.  I cried going into the room just from nerves but the nurses was so great and you will be just fine.  They gave me my shot to put me to sleep I said ouch that stung and then out like a light.  I had my surgery at 1:15 and home by 7 pm that night .

next thing I was looking at some dude looking at me lol.     Everybody is different after surgery. I had hardly any pain and no gas pains and you might be like that also , or it could be alot of gas pains for you but it will go away in a week or two weeks .  The doc wlll give you some meds for the pain and so you dont get sick :o)

I was back to normal within a week and back to bowling on my league in four weeks :o)

Let us know how things go for you . And its very common to have fears and nerves before surgery we wouldnt be human if we wasnt :o)
