You are so right about the scars... I wouldn't be two sizes down from where I started without them. I always try to be mindful of that...

I find that replacing carbs with lean protein helps to get the scale moving again...without changing the calorie count.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised on Wed.

I live by the theory of low-carbs and low-sugars (only eat both from natural sources such as dairy, veggies, fruits, etc., but never added sugars), with very high protein and have since I had surgery in 5/09.  Since I do this, the calorie count seems to naturally fall into place where it should (1200 - 1500 on maintenance, 1000 - 1200 when I was losing).

I have to completely abstain from added sugars and/or white carbs.  The scale moves up IMMEDIATELY if I don't.  I am just one of "those" people.  lol  I track every bite of food and my stats and numbers don't lie ...so it is what it is and I have adjusted accordingly. :)

Everyone is different I suppose, but this is what works for me and has been completely fail proof.  I bet you will start seeing results now that you have altered your diet.  Keep us posted on your progress and good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement.
The new dietary plan the nutritionist has me on sounds a lot like the South Beach diet. I tried that diet several years ago, and it worked great for me....
It's a similar story, low carbs and only the good high quality ones and higher amounts of protein, all lean and good quality as well.
I am looking forward to progress as this stall is discouraging....
Thanks again....
Best,
Mary

Mary,

My surgeon (not the one who put my band in - he disappeared?!?) says 600-800 calories. When I was able to stick to that (before my band started tightening up for unknown reasons) the weight was just dropping off me!!  It just so hard to stay that low for me.

Also, I am insulin resistant and have to stay very low carb to lose anything.  Weight loss IS slow for those of us with metabolic issues.  But I am happy for any loss I can get since I was on the fast track to 300 lbs before I got my band.

Good luck,

Katie

Thanks for the good words. Yes, I'm insulin resistant, and now I know more than ever that carbs have to be restricted... Along with high protein.... Just like the old Scarsdale, Atkins and now the South Beach diet.....
I lost a lot of weight on those... but didn't have the benefit of a nutritionist to help!
I'll post again when I get weighed on Wednesday...
Best,
Mary
