I know exactly how you feel, when i first saw my surgeon he recommended lap band for me but after i had done research for almost a year i had the sleeve set in my mind. Honestly it's up to you, but i think all doctors give thier opinions on which surgery they think is right for you.. Also i think he knew my insurance wouldnt approve the sleeve and he was right but after they denied me i appealed it and won just in time for surgery. My advice is fight for the surgery you really want then decide. Good luck !

At our first consult, my surgeon said, "Have you decided which procedure you want to have?"

I told him Lap-Band, and he said, "Ah! My favorite surgery." (But I think he probably said that to his RNY and VSG patients, too.) So I never had a medical professional trying to steer me away from my first choice, and since I'm fantastically happy with my choice, you can't call me an unbiased observer. I just want to offer this:

You already know that the band requires a LOT of aftercare. For that reason, I would want to have a surgeon who's 100% on board with my decision. If everything else was equal (equal weight loss, equal complication rates, equal cost, equal safety, etc. etc.), and I truly trusted my surgeon, I would choose the procedure he/she recommended.
