Lap-Band Erosion- replacements

I have had my Lap-Band for many years and i have had my share of good and bad with it.. at what point do they check to see if it has erosion problem? I'm going in for my second repair of my port site and a year ago the port broke off from the tubing to the band and had that repaired.. i wanted it replaced..they patched me up sent me home, i haven't  lost any weight in a year if i lost 20 id gain 30..even with exercise.. and my thyroid meds...do you think any Dr's read thees forums?maybe they should....im going in on June 1st for port repair it flipped over and cant be filled it bent the needle,lol

I think I would push them to really investigate what is wrong. There must be some reason you have so much port trouble.

I don't think any surgeon routinely checks for erosion unless the patient has symptoms of erosion...including port infection.

And no, I don't think any doctors routinely read these forums. It doesn't sound to me as if your own surgeon has properly addressed your problem. You could contact the band manufacturer (Allergan/Lap-Band or Ethicon-Endo/Realize Band) about the tubing/port break, but your port flip is probably due more to your surgeon's technique than the port's design or quality.

As for why you haven't lost any weight in a year, there are dozens of factors to consider, and the first person to discuss them with is your surgeon. If he/she doesn't address them to your satisfaction, get a second opinion from another surgeon.
