Major Stuck Episode!

Yesterday I was so excited because my order of Dr. Kracker's crackers arrived.  They looked so yummy with all kinds of healthy seeds in them.  I took out 5 crackers and topped each with a tiny piece of roasted turkey left from dinner the night before.  Then I plopped a bit of mayo on top of each one.  I got 2 down , and then---Whoh Nelly!!!!!  I had a terrible sharp pain in my chest!  I stopped right there, but I guess I didn't chew well enough because it was stuck!  I took 3 papaya enzymes and went to make some peppermint tea.  By the time the tea was ready, it had gone down.  I took 2 more p.e. to be safe and drank the tea.  Nothing but liquids for 24 hours.  This afternoon--mushies.  Wow!!  What a mistake.  I sure learned my lesson, because I haven't even had a fill yet.

Wow.  I guess ignorantly I believed that we would not get "stuck" unless there was a fill.  I know that sometimes if I am eating too fast I get a tight feeling in my chest that I actually have to massage.  That's all I need to slloooowww down!  Ironically I tried crackers today too, some water crackers and another type with a lot of seeds.  I put Laughing Cow cheese on them and they were fine for me.  I was careful to chew though because it was the first time eating something so hard.

I am glad you go through it, and so sorry you had to experience the pain!!!

I probably would have been fine with soft cheese on the crackers instead of the turkey pieces, but I'm not sure.  The crackers were really hard, and it felt like pieces were poking me.  That's how bad it was.  Thank goodness someone had mentioned papaya enzymes.  I had just gotten them this week.  Whew, just in the nick of time.  These post from others are sooooooo helpful!!!!

Probably was the turkey.  Try cutting it into 1/4 inch dice and making turkey salad with your LF mayo, some finely diced celery and pepper....yummy.  The crackers are really a slider, so I use them as a "vehicle" for the tuna, chicken or turkey salad.  If your pieces are all 1/4 inch or less, you won't get stuck, even if you don't chew as much as you should.
Some things that give me trouble are baked  beans (skins), peaches, asparagus (but works if I cut into 1/4 inch pieces first) and any stringy veggie.
Glad you had your papaya enzyme!

Wow!!!  Me too.  You were the one who ran and got some.  I remember now.  I ordered them that very night.  Thank you sooooooo much for posting about them.

I went on an internet search for "papaya enzymes" and it came up with some options.  The place I got them was buy one get 2 free.  And they weren't expensive at all.  They are worth their weight in gold, believe me.
