UGH!!!
Hi All,
My boyfriend is receiving an award for business, and we will be flying to North Carolina next week. I am DREADING the plane rides. Those damn puny seats!!!! And, on the second flight we're not sitting together.
At 267lbs, I am afraid that stupid seat is still going to be too small for me. I keep remembering one trip where I was wedged up against the window for 5 hours. CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!!!!
Okay, I'm done venting now. Thanks for listening (er, reading).

Barbara -
On most airlines, 24 hours before your flight you can check in on line and purchase a 'premium seat' --- one where there is a little more room (generally more room between you and the row in front of you -- not a wider seat).
The upgrades are usually 20 - 40 dollars depending on the length of the trip.
Also -- they save the 'premium seats' for their "premium clients' and relase them the day before the flight -- so, even though it looks like you and your boyfriend cannot get seats together right now, you may find that at the time of check-in you can.

It looks like we are/were right in the same weight range I was 344 when I was banded... and I know what you mean about squeezing into the seats but after 45 lbs down I had to fly to Chicago from LA and although I did have to wear an extender still the seats were much more comfortable! So you may have less to worry about than you think. I realize that we are all shaped differently, but you may be pleasantly surprised at how much more comfortable you will be, especially with the upgraded or economy plus seats which are WELL worth the $20 or $30!

You'll be suprised at what a difference losing 66 lbs will make! I flew a lot in my previous job and most of the time never wore a seat belt because I was too embarassed to ask for the extender. I weighed 330 lbs. After I lost 90 lbs I got on a plane and was shocked! Not only did the seat belt fasten, it had a 6 inch tail!
I bet you're going to be pleasantly surprised!
Enjoy!
