Band Removed / Vomiting non stop
Just some thing i wish i would have known sooner....
I just wanted to let anyone know that is having issues with getting sick....but your band is not to tight and the dr doesn't see anything when they do a scope...you may have esophagus spazems that don't show up if you are fasting for a scope the next day... i had issues for 2 years they unfilled my band for over a year and could never find anything... But right before i had my band was removed i had a Really bad few Weeks where Every was coming back up...hot tea even...anit nausus med were not working or anything... they did a quick floro scope and saw like a bubble, a narrow and a bubble in my esophagus....they scheduled me the next morning for a scope...they saw Nothing Again... my dr relized i was having esophagus spazems they gave me a rx and schuled me for my removal of my band.... I can't find the bottle to remember what it was but I swear if i would of taken it 2 years ago i think i would still have my band and would not be in the shape i am in.... sad to say my experiance with the band was not a great one...I except that my body rejected the band But if it happens to you PLEASE ask your dr about it early! I did but they just kept missing it and i thought i was going crazy.. 2 years of Vomiting took a very bad toll on my body and i wish i would have found that medicen ... I didn't get sick one time after i started it! I don't know I just thought this might help someone so i thought i would post it
Good luck

Hi Jewel,
I'm sorry to hear this. For some reason, around 2 years out is when a lot of bodies really have trouble with the band. I was almost exactly 2 years post op when I had emergency removal and I've seen it over and over in so many people. I think the band just irritates the stomach to the point of rejection in a lot of people.
The scopes don't help when the esophagus isn't spasming, I know! So frustrating! I had CT scans that didn't show anything wrong, either. But there was a whole lot wrong, just like your situation.
I hope you will heal up and feel much better. I know that I felt like I came from the brink of death when I had my band removed. (Because I DID, actually.) Wishing you the best in the future.

Sorry you have had so much trouble but there are alot of us with band issues so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Just a word of encouragement for you, I chose to have my band emptied about a month ago and so far am still the same weight so it can be done. I just continue to follow the band rules and strategies and so far so good. Now I never got anyehere near my goal so am still obese but at least I can eat healthy foods again. I eat my allotment of solid protein and then fill any further hunger with good veggies like brocolli, cauliflower, green beans and other good low cal veggies. Lots of time my whole meal is a salad and I put my protein and veggies in the salad and water down my dressing to about half and half, that will fill me up for hours on end. So just keep working the rules even if you lose the tool!
Thanks ....Good Luck.... I just looked at my old notes and actually my band was empty for 2 years and i never had more than 2.5 in it and the extra .5 only stayed for a few weeks... I kept my weight down until the last 8 months before my band was removed and that was probably because i could not hold down anything longer than an hour max. i finally gave up on healthy and went for what i thought would try to fill me up before i got sick again... and all the getting sick i had not enery to do anything as far as exersise....so during that is the time i gained 50 lbs.... I am hoping once i get better will a my other health issue then i will be able to go back to a healthy lifestyle...eating no carbs (well very little) exciersie was my key with my band..
It's good to know that i am not the only one...
