For those keeping score...

Pumpkin was admitted to the hospital yesterday for continued pain--probably esophageal spasms secondary to gastric banding and today the doctors there said that the band needs to come out.  She has no problem with that, but is hoping to have the sleeve done at the same time.  They are checking to see what can be done.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths.  In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30.  They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers.  I am NOT saying not to trust anyone.  I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims.  Most are NOT serial killers.

I don't know what you mean by keeping score, Sue, but I hope the very best outcome for Pumpkin and very sorry for the pain she has endured. Thank you for letting us know and please keep us updated.

I'm sure what she means is yet another failed band and revision to another surgery.

Keeping score as in "another band bites the dust."

Actually, more specifically...I was referring to the fact that it is mathematically impossible for the band stats to ever get better than they are at any given moment.  Because over time, more and more bands cause more and more problems with more and more patients and ending up getting bands removed or revised, and so the stats always get worse...THAT score.

In Pump's case, her daughter has had two bands removed and Pump has had one removed and a band doctor just told her that she needs this one gone, too.

Poor Pumpkin she's had a horrendous time with her band for such a long time! Tell her we all wish her well and crossing all appendages that she can get that sleeve at the same time. Do keep us posted and thanks for letting us know!

No interest in scores or point scoring! But please would you send Pumpkin my very best wishes for a speedy recovery and a successful revision?

Thanks, Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Hi Sue...give her my best.  I hope she is able to revise.  Doesn't her insurance change July 1?  Keep us posted.

Also not interested in point scoring  that is not what we are here for nor what this thread should be about. The band does not work for everyone as we know  but does for many !
Please pass along to Pumpkin that I hope they are able to revise to the sleeve. Give her my best wishes for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery! The band obviously just was not right for her hopefully the sleeve will be an option and she will be back on her journey soon!
