HELP!
In my option, I would have to say the band. There are problems that you can run into with either the band or bypass. I personally had the band on June 30,2008 and I lost 103 lbs. In the 1st 6 months I lost 88lbs. So don't let anyone tell you that the bypass is better. Just like anything that you do, if you don't follow the "rules" you will run into a problem. You don't have "that much" to loose and a bypass is much more involved because of the cutting and reattaching. The way that I look at it, is I'm adjustable. I hope that helps you somewhat. Good luck in your decision.
Im 5'6'' and was 289lbs. I got the lap-band, which was my choice. I didn't research any other WLS, because this is what I wanted. So far I have lost 30lbs since March. My surgery was May 10th. My goal wt is 183lbs.
I think you should research both very throughly. I see which one would benefit you more. You will get alot of different comments on here. Some ppl are happy with their bands, some are not. The same with all the other WLS. I had my reasons for choosing the band. Loose slowly, not invasive surgery, recovery short. But you have to work with the band. Eat very healthy, exercise, and there are some food you just can't eat. But I didn't have a problem with that. Now my band may work for me and then it may not, but it was my choice in WL. So Im very happy with my band so far and Im following my dr. guidlines to a T...
GOOD LUCK
