??? How many of ya'll wear a medical alert I.D...I've been doing some research and came across a article.

Many Lap-Band resources and doctors will say that as a weight loss surgery patient it is important to wear a medical ID bracelet. There are several reasons for this - first, because patients are not supposed to have NSAID’s and second the EMT’s (if ever involved in an accident) need to know that a person has a band because if they insert a nasogastric tube to administer medications or assist with breathing blindly, it could puncture the stomach pouch and cause internal bleeding or additional more serious repercussions. Now, when looking for medical ID bracelets there are all types and styles to fit a persons personality. Whether it’s gold, silver, cotton, rubber or one wants to wear it on their wrist, ankle or as a necklace – there is something for everybody. Any jewelry store can most likely order a bracelet for you and there are several online sites as well.

I was just wondering?

I don't wear one -- I am not prohibited from having NSAIDS.

Also, you might have to be administered a BREATHING tube in an emergency, but not an NG tube --- by the time I would need an NG tube, my family would speak for me if I could not speak for myself.

Also, since there is no removal/cutting of organs with a Band, it is not really necessary.

I have made a copy of my REALIZE card (which has the serial number, my surgeon's name and his phone number on it) and I have taped it securely to the back of my Driver's License.

If you think you would be at ease with an ID, go for it ---- but most emergency personnel said that they do not check for one.

Yes, I do wear one.  Lauren'sHope.com has beautiful choices.
One day at a time, and one meal at a time, and I WILL reach my goal!

I have worn a Medic Alert bracelet since I was 12 and got type 1 diabetes. Now I have allergy to penicillin engraved on it too. If I put gastric band on it, as well as my other conditions, I would need 3-4 bracelets to get it all on!
