I am to met a "professionally supervised weight loss program" what does this mean? I did go 2 yrs ago to a dr who gave you vita b-12 shots and metformin- then i got all kinds of sick, ulcers etc. so do I need to go "pay again" to one of these to be approved? and where does the gym come in, I do have a membership for that, and the diabetes class. I am afraid this wont do...?? Any one have to meet this to get approved?

I had to do a Dr supervised diet for a set amt of time usually it is 6 or so months and it just usually means you go see your PCP every month to weigh in and talk about your wt loss strategies and how you are doing sticking to them. You talk about exersize etc. All that had to be really well documented each visit. I also had to meet with a nutritionist about diet and a physical therapist about exersize. Check with your ins and ask them EXACTLY what they are looking for during this time. What info , how long  etc. I could have done 6 mos w/ PCP or 3 mos with a PCP,NUT,PT . I went with the 2nd option. It was more of a formality for me than anything else . Did not really lose anything just followed thru to meet the requirements. Did get lots of good info tho.

I was fortunate that my insurance company only required  a 3 month. Mine was all done through my bariatric clinic.  By the time I concluded my education sessions, I was through the 3 months.  What I needed to do was only  attend the 3 education classes whi*****luded a weigh in. I was quetioned only about physical activity.  It was really pretty easy.  So check with your bariatric clinic.  They have been my biggest assest as they know the ins and outs of the insurace approvals and requirements.

Yes, they called but  insurance said 6 mo- but on their  pages of benefits,  it is written 3 months, so that's what I hope they will all agree on. I am so anxious to get this done, I can taste it. I bought an in-expensive  small sized dress for the after surgery party I will have with myself! I would think the surgeons have a team ready to meet all the requirements. I guess I will find out when I go.
