Post Op Day 5, bad pains.

I had a rough day.  I had pretty bad pain under my left rib cage today.  I did also have some stabbing left shoulder pain, I know that was CO2 gas pain.  It was the same as I had in the hospital.  I used the heating pad, and with 3 small kids, I am thinking I am more active then I should be.  But this rib pain... It was unbearable.  Heating pad didn't help, Pain meds didn't help.  I even tried GasX.  I know in my Nurses mind that Gas X will do nothing for CO2 gas pain, but I was willing to try anything.  I have been sitting doing nothing for a few hours, and it is tolerable now.  Did anyone have this bad rib pain?  I could understand if it was the same side as the port, but it is not. 

Also... is there any end in sight from the diarrhea?  I can't take much more of that either.

I know this too shall pass, and I do not regret surgery... I just wasn't expecting to still need pain meds 5 days out.  Thanks for letting me vent!

I can't say much about the gas pain as I didn't seem to get that (I had reflux pain instead).

But I have had diarrhea since 1 week preop, and I am now 6 weeks post op. That's 7 weeks of diarrhea. At first I thought it was the liquid diet, then the mushies. But I am now 2 weeks eating normal foods and still have the problem. it is getting less severe though - about 4 times a day instead of every 20 mins when it first began, and I had to take time off work.

Did they say that was normal?  I cant see that being very healthy.    I am glad to hear it is getting better for you :)
