Fears coming true
I am in the same boat as you. I was banded 4/19/11. I have lost, since surgery, a total of 4-5 pounds depending on the day. I am out 5 weeks, so I guess that averages out to 1 pound per week. However, for some reason, I lost two of them last Saturday. Then stayed the same until the next Saturday and lost another two pounds. It is crazy! I was hoping to have lost a little more than this, but slow and steady wins the race! It is easy to say, but harder to live with! :)
I sure am in the same boat as you. It's so frustrating, isn't it? I would rather be the rabbit than the tortoise if I could win the race that way. Have you gotten a fill yet? I don't get mine until the middle of June. Grrr! Tomorrow I start on solids, but you didn't see loss then either, did you? You must be a teacher. Aren't I smart? Just look at your avitar, huh?! I am a retired teacher. I taught for 31 years, and retired 3 years ago. Good luck. Let's keep in touch on our journey.

Exactly what Jean said! hee hee ( wish I could write like her )
This journey takes patience. Celebrate achieving behavior related goals. Sure the number on the scale is fun to celebrate, but it doesn't always cooperate.
Follow your surgeon's plan and it will work!

At this stage, losing is not the focus. The focus is on healing from surgery and incorporating your new eating habits as you add foods to your meal plan. When you are on liquids, you basically pee out all of your intake, but for a little. When you add solids, you "fill the pipeline" so to speak and that residue (poop) has weight...some people will gain a pound or two during this time.
As you start solids and focus on eating dense protein first, weighing and measuring your food and gradually come up to speed, you will begin to lose again, but it will be 1-2 lbs on average, depending on your calorie intake.
Don't go back to liquids. Most doc's and nutritionists don't allow liquid meals after solids have started except for after a fill or after a stuck episode. Liquids won't keep you from feeling hungry for 3-5 hours after a meal like solids will.
I lost about a pound a week during my first 3 months post-op and have continued to lose at that pace on average.
Hang in there!
