just had surgery on May 17th and am craving food!!
Well.. I should be walking alot more but I think 2 times a week I walk around the circle a couple times with my husband but I do walk around alot at work so to answer your question.. not really. LOL but the more the weight comes off the more I like getting out and being active. I got the easytone sneaks and man.. two laps around the block and my butts on fire (in a good way of course!
I think that's what they call Bandster Hell. Right after surgery, you have a lot of swelling and your band feels tight and you don't really want to eat much, if at all. When your swelling subsides, the band loosens, and suddenly you start to feel hunger. Initially you have to do liquids then pureed foods, mostly to ease yourself into eating regular food again. (If you eat solids too quickly and then get stuck and start vomiting, you risk slippage and erosion.) Unfortunately, if you are a quick healer like I was, it isn't long after surgery before you actually feel like you never even had the band placed. You essentially have to diet until your first fill. I had surgery May 3rd, and I had a long talk with my surgeon this morning because that's exactly where I am now. Because of scheduling conflicts, my first fill isn't until June 20. So I have about 4 or 5 weeks of dieting ahead of me.
It's nice to have a little immediate weight loss after surgery, but I really wouldn't worry too much about trying to lose weight before your first fill. Just try to maintain whatever weight loss you achieved on the pre-op diet. Once you start getting fills/adjustments, you can start working the band, and the weight loss you're dreaming of can happen.
Hope this helps!

I just had my surgery too!!! On the 12th. Yesterday I started to feel like what if I just had a nibble or just a small bite as long as I chew it really well. My kids said no way!!! I snapped back to reality. haha!! I just found that if I was drinking or doing something that had to do with drinking every 15 minutes I was fine. I now realize that I can take a bit more in than in the beginning. 3-4 oz of something-either yogurt, milk, protein drink,broth,etc...every 15 min-sure it's a pain in the butt but it really works for me. i set the timer on my phone and go about my activities and before you know it it's time to drink something. I don't feel like I want to rip of someones head for some food-and watching the food channels-that's a big no noooooooo.
I had my surgery on the 17th as well. After reading most posts on this forum it seems my surgeon has a different approach to the pre/post op diets. Pre op I just had to drink clear liquids the day before surgery. Now for post op I can have pureed foods for about 4-6 weeks. I too have wanted some solid foods. Last night I was at my girlfriends and we got Chinese food and everyone else was eating sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, lo mein, rice, and here I was sitting with a pint of egg drop soup that it looks like I barely ate any of.
Hardest part will be next Saturday when I go to a wedding and have to sit there mashing up my tilapia with a fork so it's mushy enough.
But good luck! Stick through it! It's going to be tough for a while but just remember it's all going to be worth it in the end!
