My new best friend...

Today was the first time I got stuck and couldn't get the offending food particle up.  For lunch I heated up a hamburger patty (leftover from last night's dinner) and added a spoonful of baked beans to my plate...was really looking forward to it.
4 bites later, I was stuck....not even water was going down.  I spent a good amount of time in the bathroom trying to get it up, but though it looked like I got it all up, I was still miserable...drank some water (thinking it might float) and lost that...finally I decided on some "retail therapy" and headed to the mall with an empty and growling stomach, thinking that a time out was in order for band and tummy.
Came home two hours later (bought nothing) and still couldn't drink water...headed up to the drug store for some Papaya Enzyme and voila...24 oz of water later, I am a much happier camper!
I think it was the skins on the beans...I ate a burger patty last night no problem, but didn't have the beans.
For the newbies out there, I would get some Papaya Enzyme NOW...put a few in a ziplock in your purse just in case.  It really saved me a trip to the ER tonight!

I'm so glad something finally worked!!!!  Who would have guessed baked beans could cause a stuck episode??  Thanks for sharing.  Be careful what you eat for a few days.  My doctor said after a stuck episode you need to go back to liquids for 24 hours.  Then mushies for another 24.  Then you try solids again.  Take care.
One day at a time, and one meal at a time, and I WILL reach my goal!

Could have been either or a combo of both. I find any reheated meat is evil, you just can't get it remoisturized enough. Also bean skins can kill me. I never thought about it till I tried to eat bean salad one time and promptly got stuck. So now I make sure to recook the beans again to make sure they are soft enough to eat the skins, then make the salad. Ain't life interesting with the fickle band?!

Whenever I need to reheat meat in the microwave I cover it with a wet paper towel which really helps to keep it moist.

We use those plate covers (more to keep the food from exploding all over the microwave) and I only reheated it for 40 sec...might have to try the wet paper towel trick!

AND.......you can use the wet paper towel to wipe up any splatters that the heathen children may not have wiped up prior to you using the microwave.

Love me some papaya enzymes.  Keep them in my purse at all times.  For me...magic!  If anything gets uncomfortable, 3 papaya chewed solves the problem.  I know it doesn't work for all, but it does for me.
