24 hrs. after surgery
Hello everyone, I am 24 hrs. post op and I was wondering did everyone drink the Isopure protein drink? Is there another way to get the protein instead? They said 30ml of liquid every 15 min. Do I really have to count it or just sip all day? Another questions is I take premrin patches as well as the blood thiner. The doctor was a little concerned that contiuning the patch may cause a blood clot, I just need it because of bad headaches. Did any one else use the patch and blood thiner? Thanks
The GNC Pro Performance AMP (Advanced Muscle Performance) is reasonable and very good. The chocolate and vanilla are the only ones I've tried. Someone on OH told me to add 2 T peanut butter and 1/2 a banana, and of course blend with ice. Delicious! But I will try some of Lisa Beezee's ideas too. I've gotten some recipes from Lisa and she knows good stuff. Good Luck and keep us informed.
Sorry - no answer to your bloodthinners questions. But for protein I have always used Unjury's chocolate and vanilla. Seems like every brand has a diff taste to it. I wasn't crazy about Isopure or the Costco brand. I tried another brand that I got at GNC. It would do in a pinch, but not my fav.
Our surgeon keeps us in hosp for first 24 hrs & they were strict during that time about the liquid intake. I don't remember much the day I go home, but my hubby kept a bottle of water by me whenever I was awake. I just remember sipping at it constantly. I just had no interest in eating (liquid protein) or drinking. So we kept a checkmark list of my water intake to make sure I was getting enough/hour. I just wasn't thinking about it, so that helped.
If sipping all day works better for you, just try to count it up every few hours to make sure you're getting enough. Sometimes we think we're sipping all day but our brains are really playing tricks on us. Especially when you have that anesthesia still trying to work it's way through your system. The more water you can get through to flush your system out and stay hydrated, the better. Just don't try gulping - not a fun thing
I'm so excited for you!

I think I'm one of the few people who actually like Isopure. The only flavor that tastes good to me is the grape frost with a lot of ice. The other flavors are nasty. One big bottle contains 40g of protein so sipping all day is fine.
If you don't like Isopure, I would go get some protein powder. Someone mentioned Unjury, which can be ordered online and you can get packets so you don't have to buy a huge container. This way you can see if you like it. They also have a chicken soup that's not bad.
Good luck.

Are you using the Premarin everyday? What blood thinner are you on? Was it the band surgeon that started you on the thinner because of your Premarin use? Or do you have other medical reasons for the thinner? Could you skip the Premarin until you are further out post op?
I did like the Isopure Zero carb grape frost. I got sick of the sweet milky shakes after awhile and started using the Isopure. I think it helps to have a variety. Give the Unjury a try and see.
