I don't feel hungry, but how do i get down 3 protein drinks a day in addition to all the other fluids.  WHen they say 48-64 oz a day, that means everything combined right??  Still in quite a bit of pain-like I am being pulled down-much like when I had my c-section.  One positive today??  The shower!!!  yes!!!  Any pointers for these next 2 weeks???

In my post-op instructions it said to "try to get 64 oz of fluid a day" but that it might take a while to be able to work up to that much.  Keep an eye on your urinary output, as long as it's not dark yellow (and you're not taking in something that should affect the color) you should be ok.   Just keep trying on the fluids, it should get easier as the days pass and the internal swelling from the surgery goes down.  And yes, all liquids count.  When you're allowed jello, that's also considered a liquid by many doctors.  Also popsicles.

Of course, if you're really worried, call your doctor.

I didn't use protein drinks much at all.  I used canned soups diluted with water or chicken broth and whirled in the blender.  Tasted better to me than protein.  I figured I had plenty of energy in storeage in the way of fat and I wasn't going to be on liquids all that long anyhow.  YMMV.  :)

Take your pain meds as often as you are allowed and before you start hurting.  A lot easier to keep pain from getting bad than to get it under control in the first place.

Walk as much as you can stand.  Even just 2 or 3 or 5 minutes around your living room will help.  Welcome to the banded side.  :)

Im 4days post-op. I don't feel hungry either. My Dr. told me to do 64oz or as much as I can.  Yesterday I did have 3 protein shakes, water, and tea. Im not going to do 3 protein shakes everyday. It will burn me out on them. Thats what happened to my hubby. I have been drinking alot, just like I did when I was on my liquid diet. Today I had soup and it was good. Made it  and put it in the blender.

The shower was very positive. I very much enjoyed that. I did alot o walking yesterday and tired myself out for today. So I have been walking around the house and doing  litlle chores here and there. Walking is making feel better with some of the GAS. I have a lil pain at the bottom of my stomach. I stopped taking narcotics Thurs. I did have to take some tylenol yesterday and probably today, but thats about it with the pain meds. I had a pain pump. I don't know if you have one, but where my incision are it is numb. My pump came out yesterday. I think I have a couple of days before all the feeling comes back. Right now Im just love the numb feeling.

I hope this helps you and Good Luck with your recovery.
It will get better.

For my first week post-op, I found a heating pad to be helpful on my back.  That's where I hurt.  Good luck to both of you newbies.  I'm sure you will do very well.  After the first week, you will feel like yourself again.
One day at a time, and one meal at a time, and I WILL reach my goal!

I am a little over a week out post-op. I know for me that evening and the next day after surgery all I really wanted was water.  I couldnt get anything else to taste good and didnt feel like eating at all.  About the 3 day I got more protien down and then by the 4 day was getting what  I needed.  My dr did say that might happen with some people.

I still am not thrilled with the protien drinks, but I mix the vanilla flavor with decf coffee and add ice and a little sugar free flavored syrups and it's as good as one of the store bought coffees.

Do take you pain medicine before the pain is to bad, it helps you relaxe and heal.
