I have really been craving salads lately, but I am worried that they may be causing me some problems.  Does salad hurt?  Please give me some feedback cause I really want salad.  P.S. I am 9 months out. Thanks all!

I love salad too.  When I had my band I used to chop everything up with a scissors.  I still do this now because I just like that chopped effect it gives a salad.

I cut up everything in a bowl, then I take the kitchen scissors to the veggies and just chop away.

Hmmm...thought I was the only one who ate salad this way.  I actually chop it with scissors too!

To OP, I think as long as it is heavy in the healthy dense protein department...it should be fine to eat it.

I like the idea of chopping the salad with scissors.  For me, sometimes lettuce works and sometimes it doesn't.  I'm going to try chopping it.

I find that iceberg and romaine lettuces are easier than the limp, fancy varieties.  And, of course, as always, watch the dressing!  You can easily turn a healthy salad into a 1200 calorie disaster if you use too much of the wrong dressing!

I like to dilute blue cheese dressing with red wine vinegar or balsamic.  It not only cuts the richness of the blue cheese but it gives you more dressing for the same calories.  Use 2 tbs. and dilute to your desired consistency.  I haven't tried it, but it would probably work with ranch dressing too!

Best~

I use the same scissor trick but have an easier time digesting green leaf which I lay out on papertowels after washing to prevent it from getting mushy. I don't actually know if it really is true but I was told decades ago green leaf lettuce had a larger protein content than iceberg which had none. I never researched it on my own though.

Thank you!  I am a romaine fan myself!  I have always cut my salads up into small bites, but I will try smaller.  Ate two salads last weekend with cold chicken, so yummy, but the pain afterwords was out of control.  I don't want to stop eating salads - especially right now!  Any feedback is helpful!

you know, that cold chicken probably didn't help things - not matter how small cut up.
i can only do cold chicken in a "chicken salad" form - warm, no issues.   something about the cold makes it sit like a rock.

i eat a LOT of salad, mostly romaine w/some fresh spinach leaves.
i add a bunch: chick peas, feta, pickled peppers, roasted edamame/corn, purple onion, cucumber.
since i'm not a fan of most dressings, i make my own wasabi vineg. that lasts a good time.
