Can I please just tell you all how angry I am. I have been waiting so long to get this surgery done. I had a 12 month diet that I completed, pre surgery testing that I've done - the only thing I was waiting for is my date and I got a phonecall last night from Hurley bariatric center from the nurse who was passing my chart along. She said that my insurance had been cancelled on the 30th of April. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!!!!! I'm so angry I could bust. So not only has my regular drs office been very untimely in returning request from hurley in the first place but now DHS has made a mistake and cancelled my insurance. I spoke with a supervisor yesterday and they said they were going to do what they could to fix the situation but we all know in michigan it takes 3 years to get a phonecall returned from our department of human services. I just don't know what else could go wrong......

Sorry for the rant but I needed to get that out

Ohhh..... that is awful. I know how you feel, mine was delayed by 3 months (for different cir****tances). It hurt, I was furious, and I felt hopeless. It will happen, though. I'll be praying for you. Sue

No need to apologize!  From my first seminar to surgery it was a 13 month process.  It was the most frustrating time of my life.  It made the band journey seem easy.  Hang in there!  It will be worth the effort.

Just keep being assertive, and be as nice as you can be on the phone.  It could make a big difference!

How on earth does your insurance get cancelled without prior notification to the insured?  I believe that is against certain Insurance Dept guidelines.  I'd call your Insurance Commissioner on this - I think in most states there is a 30-90 day warning latter that HAS to go to the insured so they can make accommodations for other insurance.  This just isn't right!

AND a 12 MONTH diet?  Thats odd too.  Who told you that had to be done, Insurance guideline or doc? I've heard of 3 and 6 month nutritionist visits whi*****luded a demonstrated weight loss but never 12 - but every doc and Ins has its own guidelines.

I had health plus and they required a 12 months diet up until recently they changed it to 6 month. But by the time they changed it I was already on my 12 months oh so conveniently. Oh no my case worker made a mistake and I have to pay for it. I'm livid needless to say.
