My 3rd fill is great... about 3 weeks now with it . I had a hiatel hernia repair at the time of my surgery. This past week through the night I have had acid reflux so bad that its purging out of my mouth like vomit. Am I too tight ???  Why am I doing this if my hernia was fixed> I have NEVER had this done before and its pretty much every other night this week alone now .

My doc told me if we ever have reflux at night or at anytime to call him the next day asap and they wlll get me in that day for a slight unfill.

You might just need even a .5 cc taken out of you and you will be just fine again :o)

I would call your doc tomorrow though and tell them what is going on and get you in .

Good luck I hope things get better for you .

It's possible that you might be eating to close to bedtime, however more likely that you are a tad too tight.

I had this going on pretty severe, waking up choking on acid, but I had a slip.

Yep reflux usualy means too tight, I'd get a small unfill just to ease the reflux.

I had a random bout of extreme reflux/heartburn.  It came on pretty suddenly, and I was not able to eat or drink ANYTHING, even water, at any time of the day.  This started on a Saturday night.  I didn't have any kind of stuck episode or anything that I thought could have triggered it.  I got into my surgeon's office on Monday for an unfill, and it was immediate relief.

Yes, too tight!  Even a slight unfill of .2 can make a huge difference.  If the food pools above the band and you lay down, or if you eat too late at night and go to bed and are too tight, you may get reflux.  It's to be taken very seriously.  Call your doctor and get in there tomorrow.

Take care.

Yes, a slight unfill is needed.  Call Dr. Shinn in the morning and they should be able to work you in.  You don't want to wait since he usually does his surgeries on Friday and I am sure you don't want to wait the whole weekend.  Good luck!

Get the unfill.   Until then, don't eat anything dense (ie solid protein) within 3 hours of going to bed.  And try "rinsing" the upper stomach by drinking a glass of water or herbal tea about an hour before bed.

But an unfill is the best idea.

You need to get that unfil right away.  I'm a RN and people can die from aspiration pneumonia, which you can get by inhaling in the acid that is "purging" out your mouth.  This is serious.
