got my first 'fat' insult today

Today when crossing a car park a lady pulled over and yelled 'open your eyes you fat blubber'.

I instantly got angry and yelled some cuss words right back at her, and she looked scared and drove off in a hurry.

I didn't get down about the situation as I am losing weight happily and she wasn't tiny herself.

Cat,
I probably would have reacted the same way!  Glad you are not taking it to heart.   The old childrens rhyme that says "sticks and stones may brake my bones but names will never hurt me"  comes to mind but the thing about that rhyme, as a child, names DID hurt.   Just another example of folks prejudice with fat people.
You keep on losing!!  Good for you!

What a *****!  I really hope that she was having some kind of personal issue that made her such a jerk. I mean, I don't "hope" she is having a problem, I just hope she's not naturally such a ***** Gosh people can be so rude and insensitive.

Way to shake it off though. I hope you can use that incident to propel you further in your efforts. Go do your workout and work that anger by pushing yourself just a little further.

Karma will deal with her in time.

Imagine if someone was a certain race and this person yelled "open your eyes you (fill in the blank racial term)".  Same premise, just one is viewed as illegal in society, and the other is "turn a blind eye" accepted.

Just a pathetic way to make yourself feel superior and fill an empty void of self-esteem.

I remember a couple months after I had my surgery, I went in for my annual check up (gyno).  It was at a regular doctors office, and an older gentlemen did it (they had a female assistant in the room as well).

He looked at my files and said "so, you got weight loss surgery huh?"  I told him yes, and he had looked at my previous weight, and current weight.  Then he said "looks like you're not doing too well".

I had to educate him about the lap-band, and how you don't lose as fast as other types.  You could tell he wasn't listening.

Throughout the exam, he kept making comments about my weight.  How difficult it was for him to feel for my ovaries, or look inside, etc.  It was mortifying.  The assistant never said a word.

The weird thing was that he wasn't "thin" himself.

Please don't take the "fat blubber" personally. And I'll tell you WHY! My size 0 cousin was called a "fat ass" by a woman who was twice her size once! SIZE ZERO. She's practically invisible! And this woman knew by looking at her that the most effective insult she could lob at her would be "Fat ass" because it would hurt her.

People think "fat" is some sort of swear word, when in fact, it just makes them look ignorant as hell to use it as such.  It's like, "Yeah, so? I'm fat, but I obviously have a better vocabulary than you do!"  There are SO many better adjectives for insulting people!

You ******g PHALLALGIA! (Means pain in the penis). I don't have a penis, but I imagine being a pain in one would really suck.

I'm glad you didn't get down about the situation, Cat. There's no reason to. People can be mean and she probably had a lot of unhappiness in her life. She deflected that unhappiness onto you.

Cat, you are a better person than I am!  In the mood I've been in recently, I would have more than likely attempted to pull her through the car window.  ;)

"fat" is the new "gay".. everyone uses it as an insult without giving any thought to the ignorant way you come off when you do.  The last time someone called me fat (my twice-my-size half-sister from hell..) I asked her if she was going to call me a big dumb poopyhead next.  She didn't get it, but it satisfied me enough to walk away.
