Hi!  I had the lap band on the 17th of March, got my first fill April 21st.  Before my fill I had no restrictions when eating.  Now that I've had my fill I am still experiencing very little restriction.  Has anyone had a fill that wasn't filled enough?  I'm wondering if I should be going back to the fill center to get more filled in my band.
Thank you in advance,
Katie

Thanks for replying Joyce!  My band only holds 4cc's... I have 2cc's in it right now.

It really depends on what kind of restriction you are looking for.

I dont want to keep my band to the type of restriction where I cant eat certain foods or I'm to tight to even have breakfast in the mornings.

That just isn't me I personally like my band on the looser side of things and use my band to remind me not to overeat and to slow down that is what I use my band for and just having the band around me is just enough of a restriction to keep me in check on my portions.  I'm to scared to overeat all the time because it could cause a band slip or even worse problems.

The two things my doc always ask me are

Are you eating every 2 hrs. and head hunger dont count it has be physical hunger

and are you eating more then a cup or a cup and half of food per meal which anybody can do no matter what kind of restriction you have so I dont know why they even ask that question to be honest lol especially if you eat slider foods all the time and if you are doing that , that means you are to tight anyways and should get a unfill :o)

Thanks for the reply steelerfan!  I think I figured something out this evening that so far, I didn't realize!  Yesterday I was STARVING!  the week before my menstrual cycle I always feel extreme hunger but I figured that with my band I would feel full and wouldn't continually go through this each month.  Yesterday evening I ate 3/4 cup of greenbeans, 1 pork chop (small), a fiberone bar, a protein bar, a cup of raisin bran cereal with skim milk, and a hard boiled egg! I didn't eat all of this at once but it was all within 5 or 6hrs!  It was so embarrassing!  I couldn't stop eating! I felt like I was just starved to death!   Thats when I thought I needed to post something on here to see if anyone else was able to eat like that.

Today ended up being a completely new day.  I ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast, for lunch I was only able to eat 3 small slices of chicken, and 3 slices of chicken for dinner!  I had a small snack between lunch and dinner (fiber bar) and other then that, that is all I was able to eat.

I'm not sure if I'm eating more of the wrong foods (easing to slide on through) or what I am doing wrong???  I haven't had the fill for very long but it seems as though one day I'll feel restrictions and the next day I could eat the fridge because everything slides right on through.  I want to do all the right things, I haven't been eating unhealthy foods, I haven't drank anything bu****er for 3 months (which is a huge victory for me because I was addicted to diet coke and lemonade)... I want this to work but I'm worried its not..... :(

Just an FYI.   Some people need 0 fills, and some can have many.  Each person is different.   I get so angry at Dr's that do band surgery and do not make sure their patient knows all the facts.

Glad you are posting to get questions answered.

Thanks for the reply Ann.   My Dr has actually told me that some people have 0 fills, some have to have them worked with a bit..... My situation is kinda strange though..... one day I can eat the fridge and then today for instance, I was only able to eat small amounts( 3 small meals & 1 snack)..... Yesterday I ate a pork chop and it went right through but today I could only eat 3 slices of chicken (same bite size, texture, etc) and I felt very full afterward.... Any thoughts?

You are in that place we call "bandster he%#."  It will get better, and your doc is following protocol on the fills, going slowly and letting the swelling abate between fills.  I had to wait 8 weeks until my first fill.  Fortunately, I did feel some restriction with only the unfilled band, so was able to lose some weight in the early weeks, but for most band patients those first 8 weeks post-op are VERY frustrating.  Try really hard to follow your doc's instructions, be patient, and follow up regularly.  I have to wait at least 4 weeks in between fills, and the last two fills did NOTHING - no restriction at all.  I had been up to 6 ccs then had to have a complete unfill due to illness.  SLOWLY getting back to where I was.  Just had my 3-year anniversary!  20 more pounds and I'll be at goal!
