I had tons of acid with my first band and I have moderate acid with the 2nd one. I plan on getting this band out ASAP. I'm scheduled to have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy soon, Gee I hope they don't get the scopes mixed up.

Are the pills that your doc told you to take not working ? I have never had the acid problem since I got the band.
Now I have a question for you . I had horrible acid problems before the band come to find out I had a hernia and once he repaired that baby then I have not had a problem since then.
Could that be your problem also ? I guess he would have seen that if he had you do tummy xrays whatever that is called lmao. ( like you brain fart hey its a weekend we are allowed them :o) )
gosh hopefully you can find your answer soon .

I never had acid reflux until this last fill. It was terrible, I would wake up at night choking and reswallowing this foul tasting acid. My doctor put me on 40 mg of Tecta. The pharmacist told me to take it at supper time. I was still having the same problem and when I called the clinic the nurse told me I should be taking it a half hour before breakfast. What a difference! I rarely have any acid now. I think I was just too tight with this last fill, but thankfully I am alright now. When are you taking your acid med. For me the am was the proper time to take it, and I don't eat after 7 pm.
Just be very careful with the acid because it usually means there are problems either too tight or you just are too sensitive for the band. I don't want to scare you but it often ends up with losing your band eventually. Not always but acid and the band are a very bad combo, I've seen it over and over again on the boards. Just be very vigilant and never let it go on for long periods.
I had a terrible acid probelm right after my first fill (they gave me way too much too soon). I lived with it for about a week, unsure if I was overreacting or doing something wrong... When I finally went in, they gave me a really stern talking to about the dangers which can include aspiration pnemonia, among alot of others.
I got an unfill, and since then they have been filling me really slowly, and I never had another problem.
Be careful!

My acid problems were pretty severe. I had my band removed on Monday, but the last month of my band the acid was shooting up my throat and causing me to choke.
The problem is that if you have too much restriction at the band as I did (even with a COMPLETELY unfilled band) the acid will sit in the stoma like a pressure cooker. The second that you fall asleep it goes up the esophagus into your lungs. It sucked and caused me a lot of sleepless night. If you are filled you may want to have it emptied until this issue resolves and then go back in for minor fills. Acid blockers didn't help, Tums didn't help, eating nothing at night didn't help, and sleeping up right didn't help.
Mind you, this is NOT TYPICAL, just what happened to me.

I'm one of those who has had fills- unfills- filled again - unfills - filled again - unfill... well, you get the picture..
and I still have acid issues.
Right now (a year after my band) I had to have my fill take out last week because the heartburn was so bad. Now, with no fill, I'm still experiencing heartburn. I've had an x-ray, my band is in the right spot... not sure what our next move will be.
I'm pretty depressed
