My first problem - 18 months out
Hi, hoping someone might have a little advice for me... Is this something I should be seen for?
Last night I had a terrible coughing fit (allergies), when I suddenly started gagging and vomitted violently 6 times over the next two hours. I have NEVER vomitted with the band until yesterday--what a terrible expereince!
I woke up this morning and had my breakfast of solid protein, and suddenly I felt really tight and swollen. All day, now, my banded area feels very swollen and sore, even to the touch. I have had to take off my bra just for a little relief.
I had a shake for lunch just to let everything calm down, but it still feels just as sore as it did this morning.
Should I be concerned or will this just go away after the trauma settles?

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.
Good idea to move to liquids and I think it would be good to stay on liquids the rest of today and maybe even tomorrow.
You could give some soft food (like yogurt or cottage cheese) a try tomorrow, but I would not go to solids until Monday at the earliest.
The vomiting likely irritated the banded area and you are swollen, that's why the dense protein for breakfast didn't feel very good.
Call your doctor Monday and let them know what happened and see what they would like for you to do.
P.S. I keep some phenergan on hand for the rare times that vomiting is persistant. You might also consider taking some sort of preventative allergy med. I take 2 benadryl (dephenhydramine) every night for 2 reasons, 1) help me sleep 2) cuts back on congestion/swelling due to allergies.

My son brought the flu home to me and I caught it big time. I hardly ever get sick but when I do I'm down for the count.
It was awful I couldn't keep nothing down and like you my stomach was very sore and I had problems keeping things down also.
Doc told me to stay on liquids for 48 after that if and only if , if I felt like I could eat something soft or mushy then I could try it only if it felt comfortable for me .
Just take it easy and yes you will be sore for a couple days. After my second day of liquids I was back to soft foods.
If you dont get better in the next few days I would go see your doc but I bet you will be :o)

You are swollen from all the coughing and the puking. You should try staying on liquids for a few days and see if it helps.
Speaking as a bander who is two years out, I can tell you that in the last two springs I've had to have unfills! Each time he took out about .2 cc. Two weeks ago I was really bad and the mucus build up was terrible. I was extremely tight and finally went to see my internist who told me it is the worst allergy season they have seen in 10 years. I am currently taking Claritan reditabs. It is the kind you stick under your tongue and they melt right away and get into your system quickly! Plus I'm taking singular and inhalers came back into my life. He also told me to be away of the amount of dairy I was eating because it would have the mucus thinker and make me tighter too. And I can certainly tell the difference for sure. Get a good allergy med, take that religiously and evaluate the dairy in your diet. And if you don't, drink some hot coffee or tea prior to eating. And make sure you've drinken enought that day to properly hydrate your pouch for easier digestion!
Good luck and let us know when you are feeling better!

Thanks guys. I am definitey going to stay on liquids until it feels better. I'd love to avoid another $30 co-pay to see the doctor if I can, but I'll do a wait and see on Monday...
As for the allergies, they are really not usually too bad, but I must've inhaled some serious pollen last night and the cough took me off guard. I took some claritin today and don't even have a sniffle :)

When you have problems with your allergies then you probably have a lot of drainage that goes down your throat. It will got down into the banded area and just sits there, but at some point it will be to much just like as if you got stuck on food.
So your stomach can't do anything else but make you vomit.
If the meds that you are taking are not helping with your allergy drainage then you may want to check in with your doctor to get something that work a bit better.
Good Luck, i know it can make you really miserable.
