pureed/mushies

I am going for my post-op appointment today.  We will be discussing pureed/mushies today with the NUT.  I am nauseous at the thought of pureeing stuff.  I know that I need to get over it, but it just disgusts me for some reason.  What did you eat during this stage?

Hello! I had my 1 week check up yesterday. I am a teacher too, and have to go back on Monday.

For the mushie stage, I have been told to take 30 minutes per meal, and
chew everything to baby food or applesauce consistency. I can have things like canned tuna, canned fruit and veggies, oatmeal, eggs (or substitute), soft, flaky fish, baked potato or sweet potato. I can also have thin and crispy crackers with a protein on them ( like peanut butter, thinly sliced luncheon meat and cheese.) Pureed beef is allowed, but I don't care too much for beef.
After the pre-op diet and the week 1 diet, I feel like I have died and gone to heaven!

This morning, I had some egg salad, pears and cheese cubes for breakfast. For lunch, I am having tuna salad and probably some fruit and veg..  I have a nice piece of cod planned for dinner, along with some soft veggies.  I will fill in around the protein with veggies and fruit, to get my half-cup per meal. I was told to concentrate on getting 60 grams of protein per day. I am also drinking my liquids faithfully, taking my vitamins, and getting walks in every day.

In my pantry, I have refried beans, chicken packed in water, and cheerios (my fave). I chose all of the things I love from the list I got in my pre-op class. Do you have a list of foods for each stage?

I hope this helps!

I was like  you I could not and would not puree meats . I had to do that for my grandpa and I about lost it just feeding that to him .

When you are on that stage calories and carbs are really not a huge deal because you are healing not trying to lose weight please remember that , that is very important if you dont take anything else in :o)

I ate alot of refried beans. I put some salsa in it and blend it some , then I would put some cheese on top and then heat it up and then some sour cream . I loved that stuff and I still eat it today lol.

I ate alot of mashed tators to .  Scrambled eggs according to my doc was not considered mushy that was considered soft foods so I did not eat eggs during this stage.

I got my protein through my protein shakes and then my refried beans and mashed tators.   And refried beans is excellent in protein also :o)

Applesauce I ate that also and cream of wheat

I could not eat eggs either...

I would get a can of soup (whatever kind you fancy) and add some real chicken or canned chicken and puree.. it was like thickish soup and I quite enjoyed it..

I couldn't do potatoes either but I think that was just me in general
