I'm not sure what constitues "low carb" but here's my experience:

Before surgery I was eating anywhere from 150 -300 carbs a day. I don't purposely do low carb -- but hey when you eat 3-4 ounces of protein at a meal there is only so much room for carbs! Now I eat between 50 -75 carbs a day. I might occassionally go lower if I get in a lot of protein that day or sometimes a little higher. My carbs are not the mac and cheese or cake kind. I get almost all of my carbs from whole grains, veggies, fruit and dairy. I rarely experience a craving for sugar, but that was the case before surgery too.

I can't do low carb .. for some reason I tend to over eat if I do because I don't get "full"
I don't eat a ton of carb most of it comes from fruit and veggies I can easily consume approx 60-100 grams a day...

Good Luck :)

discogal,

Since I have PCOS, my GYN said for me to try the South Beach Diet.  It works, BUT my huge down fall was nuts.  They don't have alot of carbs, but holy moly there is a lot of fat and calories.  It seems like when I am not "allowed" to have something, I crave it that much more.  But I will say that since being on the pre-op and post op diet, if I don't go back to carbs, I won't miss them right?  I think I get probably under 20-25, only because I'm not allowed to have fruits/veggies or starches.  I will say that on Easter, I did have a pc of chocolate, and its still very bad 1 time a month..OMG, I could so eat the entire Hershey's chocolate factory, I'm pretty sure I could dive into a vat of chocolate and lick it clean!!  LMAO!!!  Anyway, I'm very much with you on the low carb.  I am about 4.5 weeks out from surgery and down 28 lbs.  There is a board on here for Low-Carbers!!  I can't remember the address to it though....

if you would like another partner, I would love someone to keep me accountable!!  have a great night!!

SUre J! I'd love another partner! I'm on day 3 and the pounds are falling off. I just can't believe that it works.I thought I was going to fall off the wagon last night but I ate a tablespoon of peanut butter and that was sweet enough to keep me on track. I need to find that low carb board!

Shakey and going through withdrawals, but seeing the scale go down is keeping me motivated.

Hi DGal,  I have wondered about you.  Glad to see you are still kicking.

Low carb works for me, but I have a hard time sticking to it.  After awhile my stomach rebels.  There is a low carb group on OH you might find helpful.

I just really would love to do clean eating, but I feel ya about those cadbury eggs and such!
