hi everyone, haven't been on here for a few years. My band is about 5 and a half years old.I am having a hiatal henria reparied and a lap band revision done on monday.Has anyone had the revision. My doctor says the newer bands hold about 12 cc's where as mine was one of the first around and only holds 4 cc's and sometimes leaks. So starting over again and wondered if anyone had a revision.I had my band deflated 3 weeks ago to get ready for surgery.I realize now how much I love the band as without any fill I can't get enough to eat like the old days.Feed back is appreciated.

I had my first band placed back in 2006. I revised back to the newer band and I was told after surgery I had a hiatal hernia. Hindsight being 20/20 I now wish I had revised over to the VSG instead.

 Good luck with your surgery.

The new bands can leak also.

One thing to consider is I have seen several ppl post on OH that did well with their 1st band, but did NOT with their 2nd band! Please read on the revision forum. Or visit the other WLS forums and inquire about band replacement. You will find a lot of former bandsters on the VSG, RNY and Ds forums.

Good luck!

Just wanted to wish you luck on your surgery.  I had my band placed last year, and it holds 14cc's.

Are the 14cc bands wider open when they are unfilled compared to a 4cc?

I recently had my 10cc band removed because even completely unfilled it was unbearable.  I went with the VSG as a revision.

I have the newer model and it works well for me! I haven't had a revision but I have heard of successful revisions! Good luck to you!

If you succeeded with the old band you'll do fine with the new one.  Just be patient as it will take you some time to get the level of restriction you were used to.  I would ask the Dr. if he does a primer fill.  My surgeon put 3ccs in my 10cc band during surgery and I think it helped me acheive restriction early on.  Two years post op and I still only need 5.5.ccs to acheive optimal restriction  The amount doesn't really matter though  some need more, some less.

Best wishes to you on your revision!

Good luck for your coming surgery.  It will go great.  I've not needed a revision.  When I went into this I knew at some point my band may need to be replaced.  As long as I have my little friend, I don't care.  I'll take care of it and it will take care of me.

Sorry I'm not much help, but I'll be thinking about you on Monday!
