Happy Bandsters?
Im gonna get str8 to it... are there are TRULY HAPPY BANDSTERS out there? My decision is terrifying enough... because I always keep thinking maybe I can do it on my own (but that would fail me as it has done SO many times in the past) But some of the posts are truly terrifying... I see happy banded patients in my surgeons office... but part of me is terrified of after such a lengthy process to only fall into that 20% of failures... So my question is pleeeease help me ease my mind (be honest...)
DOES IT EXSIST? ARE THERE TRULY HAPPY BANDSTERS OUT THERE??

Spend some time on this board and see that are some VERY happy bandsters ( me ) on here. I try to give back on this board, since so many people have helped me. A lot of this board is newbies with questions or people that are needing help.

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY. I couldn't be happier. The band has been a complete success for me and I am a rule breaker. I have not had any problems what so ever, unless you call not finding a small enough size in clothes sometimes a problem. Good luck and much success in your journey.
I'm a happy camper here...just got back from endocrinologist for my three month checkup. Blood sugar was 6.03...FINALLY near normal! I've lost 13 pounds since my last visit 3 months ago. Its not fast but slow and steady. Just the way I wanted it.
5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband (four fills) 1 unfill of .5cc on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012. Unfill of .5cc June 2014.
Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since
last small unfill.

Me , I'm one. According to the Negative Nellies there are only 2 in the whole wide world who are happy with the band.
I only have 2 regrets.
1. That I did not do it 15 years ago
2. That I needed to have WLS in the 1st place. I am so glad that I did.
There is only 1 person who has the band that I have control over and that is me. Every time I attend a support group (a mix of WLS) I always walk out thinking " I am so glad that I have the band"
As long as you understand that this is not a magic wand on your stomach but just a ordinary plastic band and that you need to put a lot of work in the process you will do just fine.
People will have horror stories to tell. That is just part of being human. When the story is told in a straight forward way ie. this is what happened to me - I will read it and appreciate the information that they are saying. When it is generalized that everyone with the band will fail then I just move on to the next topic.
I remember all the horror stories I heard when I was pregnant. Yikes. Did not stop me from doing it over and over and having 3 healthy babies.
Sometimes **** just happens.

Try not to read the negative post or articles. I think your attitude has so much to do with it. If you are a positve person you will be successful. I have only had mine since April 6th, but everyday I can not get over how much better I feel, I am not hungry or thinking about food all day and I am losing! So far it is awesome!
Good Luck!
Good Luck!
I am very happy. Tomorrow is my 1 year bandaversary and i will be posting all my stats! Im very excited and it was slow. There were great victories and great challenges. I do know there is 20% failure rate, however split those in half cause a lot of those failures can be caused by the person and not the band. Just remember to follow your rules, to watch and listen to your body. Nobody knows your body like you do. I love my band. Its a great tool it reminds me everyday what i do. Now when i eat anything really bad or eat even a entire meal i feel guilty because I have put so much into this year. Its going to be a working process. But I wouldnt ever regret my band, it gave me my life back...
I am 5 years out next month and I am happy as can be. It's not easy, nor is it a magic cure, but it is a wonderful tool.
