New size and giving away fat clothes

I just gave a away 3 bags full of size 26/28 and 22/24 clothes!!!!!!!    I can't believe this is actually happening.  I decided I CAN NOT keep my fat clothes, because that means that I'm expecting to need them again someday.  It was a little scary giving them all away, but it sure feels good at the same time.

AND I just bought a new suit for a job interview, and I went in the store thinking I would need a size 22, but I got to buy a size 18/20!!!!!  It's been 4 years since I could wear that size, it's soo exciting!!!!

I direly need some smaller clothes right now, but I really don't want to spend the money since I know in a few months they wont fit me anymore as I keep going down in size.

What have you guys done to get cheap clothes in smaller sizes along your weight loss journey?

Feels good, doesn't it.  I kept 1 pair of my fat pants, just so I can see where I started this journey.  I tend to shop places like Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx.  You might also try thrft stores.

I have done the same as you.  Gave all my 26/28 and 22/24 clothes and then I felt like I had done
the worst thing in my life.  I was so scared that I would need them tomorrow and not have them!  I am also wearing 18/20 and could probably get into a 16 but my stomach flab gets in the way.  It's been 10 years for me since I wore an 18/20.  It feels great to have new clothes, but,
I'm also not ready to invest in a whole bunch of new clothes.  I've have lost 82 lbs. since my surgery which was October 04, 2010.  I seem to be at a plateaus for the last two months.  Will see my doctor on May 12, 2011 and hopefully we can resolve this little problem.  I buy wherever I
find something I like and enjoy wearing it!

Our WLS support groups here inTucson have monthly Clothing-Exchanges --- I got some things that way.

I shopped at Walmart, I shopped at Kohl's -- and checked clearance racks everywhere.

I changed sizes every 4 - 6 weeks.

I am very fortunate and work for Levi Strauss in the financial center so I can buy jeans 4x per year for a buck each... so during my weight loss I was able to do that.

I donated my clothes to the battered womens advocacy group as I outgrew them and wrote them off on taxes. I kept one pair of my largest size 26W levis and hung them on the wall outside of my cube at work. I also have a pair of my current levis size 12 or 13 jrs on my cube to remind me of where I was and where I am.

If you can donate the clothes to someone *****ally could use them its very rewarding.

If your clothes are in good condition, consignment clothes are also a great place to take your clothes.  You usually get a little bit of money for them, and you can shop for other things while your there.  My local consignment store has a "Curvy Girls" section. I donate my "curvey" clothes and go shop in the "regular" sizes!  It's a great feeling.

Congrats on your new size! I had the same feelings about getting rid of them.  As I go down, I'm trying not to spend a lot of money on new stuff. I have had a very hard time finding nice clothing at the local thrift stores. So I've had to buy some things new and then take them to the consignment shop when I'm done with them.  I only buy a small number of things and wear them more often.
