I had surgery on 4/4/11

So a few days after surgery I talked with my doctors office about my incisions and bandage changes etc and asked if I had any stitches and was told most likely not
.

So all my incisions are healing great and I am having no problems but yesterday started to notice something poking out of one... its kinda felt like maybe rough scab or something.. after having my friend look closely at it.. there is a tiny "fishing wire" type thing sticking out just barely and that's what I am feeling.. after trying to gently take it out with tweezers I call my doctors office...

apparently I must have needed a stitch and now need to go in to have it removed... its pretty embedded in there... has this happened to any of you and how did the removal of it go?

Oh and... it will be 3 weeks and 1 day post op and was thinking I am ready for the first fill but its not exactly 4 weeks (time before I am supposed to get the first fill) Have you ever been filled early?

Oh, I had one of those! I know I had it removed, but it was so uneventful that I can't even recall it! (Which is GOOD news, right?!)

I think you should wait for a fill, personally. You're still healing and it's dangerous to have the band restricting during that period. Just my opinion, of course!

Good luck. Hope the stitch is no biggie.

Actually, I believe that they use the 'fishing line' to stitch you internally -- and then they glue the skin incision shut.

So -- yes, you have stitches internally, but they don't need to be taken out. The ends will occasionally poke through the skin

I was allowed to gently 'clip' the little 'pokies' with a manicure scissors -- I would not try to tweeze anything out

Like Katheb said it is normal and you can clip them if they bother you......they are disolving stitches and sometimes come to the surface....they will fall off on their own (mine did).

Kinda scary though, I know I freaked a little.......

It will hurt if you try to remove it but it can be clipped. I had those after my c-section sticking out. They do dissolve I actually left them alone and they disappeared.
