on post-op liquid diet. How many cals?
I am on day 8 of the 14 day liquid phase post-op diet. I have protein shake for breakfast, strained tomato soup for lunch and strained cream of chicken soup for evening meal. Occasionally I can fit in a small amount of diet yoghurt, but most of the time I am too full.
I estimate I am getting 475 cals/day. Isn't that too little? But I just can't fit anymore in. As it is I am having trouble getting enough fluids now. I am probably only drinking 20 oz calorie free liquids on top of my shake, soups and yoghurt.
I also think I am getting far too little protein. I try to have a high protein sugar free jell-o (22g protein per serve) but most of the time am too full. The shake has 17g protein and the soups negligible.
I lost 9.5 pounds in the first 7 days and that is great but I'm worried about my nutrients.
Should I not worry as it is all still healing and will get better soon?
Thanks,
Cat.

Hi Cat
congrats on your surgery first off :o) . Dont worry about calories right now you are in the healing process so calories dont mean anything .
Once you get past your six weeks and your back on solid foods then is the time to worry about how many calories you are getting in your body :o)
Sit back and relax for right now .
