Help, Can't get back on track
I was doing so well after I had my lapband placed and was feeling so good. I then had problems with a flipped port and was without restriction from mid February because I couldn't get a fill. I had my port revision on March 25th, but didn't get a fill until April 5th. I struggled alot between Feb and April 5th, and gained 7lbs. Now I'm having such a difficult time getting back on track. I do great a couple of days and then I'm back to my old ways of eating again. I haven't lost any weight since I had my fill on April 5th, well actually I had lost 3 lbs, but gained them back. I do have restriction, but I just can't stop eating the wrong stuff. For those of you that have gotten off track, how do you get back? I'm so sad and disappointed Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Norma,
You can do this. Get rid of the food that is too tempting to you. Set some small behavior related goals. Celebrate each day that you make a goal. How about drinking all of your water? Or walking for x amount of time. Or I will journal all of my food for today... or I will get all of my protein in for the day...
This is a normal part of the journey, getting off track and then getting back on. We are human and can't be perfect. We can just try our best for today. Just tell yourself you are worth the effort and write out your goals. So quit being sad and make a plan! I've been there and done this so many times. You can do this! Believe!
Hugs,
Kristi

Norma,
You really made me sad reading this . It brought to mind so vividly all those times that I started and stopped dieting and how sad it made me. It also makes me fear what the future holds for me since I am only 3 1/2 weeks from surgery.
But you are already successful!!! You lost a bunch of weight. Your slip up right now is so small. Pay attention to your signals, the way things felt at the beginning. You have your tool and all you need is to put it to good use!!
Good luck! I know you can do it!

Hi Norma
We all slip up - we are human - not perfect - I write this eating a piece of pizza - is that a slip up or a thoughtful decision and carefully selected items on a very thin crust and 1-2 pieces and not 1/2 pizza. Rethink what is the band way - its not chicken and broccoli everyday 365 days a year - its about variety and not deprivation. its about making newly informed choices, healthier ones. I can't tell what you've been eating but because you net gain is 0 without restriction is fabulous!!!! Maybe you need a little tweak - but becareful - if your too tight you can eat protein and can only eat cookies and ice-cream - been there!!! not a good place to be!
So start by preplanning ur meals the day before or the week before - if you have a plan in mind you won't be driven to a bad decision in haste!
Good Luck!!! Keep me posted!

I am new to this and not even banded yet but I have been doing a lot of research. Try checking out this lady http://www.youtube.com/user/ANuMe1109, she has a lot of cool recipe for lapbanders and they look so ood . you can even follow her journey. Good luck
Hi Norma, I so feel your pain - I just posted about being "out of contro" myself. Had the band placed 12-30-10 down 40 lbs and the last few days I've felt a lot of extra stress & tension so what do I do? EAT foods that I shouldn't be touching because they just aren't good for me or my band. I just committed to the board that I will make the rest of the day today a good day for eating the right food choices and will continue that on through and through. It's very hard because the band is great but the head is still weak. But the food is just SO not worth it - afterwards on the 'bad' choices, I sit here forever focusing on what I've done and it consumes me and it isn't worth it. Yeah, the food is good when I'm eating it but afterwards, it's not...we just have to try and remember how it really makes us feel after the initial "burst" is over. I've been given some really good advise on how I should be eating and working my band and yet I've still just done myself in. But it's okay - we CAN do this if we stay focused and remember why we got the band and how to use it. Maybe we can help and motivate each other? Take care and just get on the "bandwagon" LOL and start making better choices...hang in there missy!
