I know a few people who had the roux en Y and one of them needed to have cosmetic surgery for skin folds following losing all the weight.  Did anyone here need to have cosmetic surgery following the lapband surgery?  (I was told that because it is a slower weight loss there is less of a likihood of this)  Anyone able to get their insurance to cover it?

my mom's friend lost 140 pounds with the lap band and had to get the skin folds removed from around her belly.

It is common to have extra hanging skin.

Her insurance did NOT cover it and it cost around 10K. She had huge complications and ended up in the hospital much longer.

What kind of surgery are you looking to have?

Yes I did, needed a TT you can check out my photos on my profile.  My insurance did cover a panni removal and I paid the difference to have a full TT.  Goodluck, Karianne

Yes, I lost 118-120 pounds over the course of 3 years and have had an extended tummy tuck and arm lift. I could definitely stand have the legs done, but have decided enough is enough.

Needing costmetic surgery depends on your tolerance for the look after losing weight some have lots of loose skin others not so much.  I am currently recupperating from ba/bl, lbl, and medial thigh lift didn't even try to work with insurance was totally self pay rather than dealing with the headache.
