Serious Plateau 8 Months Out - Any Advice?

Just wondering if anyone out there has some words of wisdom they can share. I think I remember reading that a plateau at 6 - 8 months out is normal. Well, I have definitely hit mine!

In the last 9 weeks, I have lost 2 lbs. I know it's better than gaining, but STILL!!! For 4 weeks in a row, every Friday morning when I weighed myself I saw the EXACT same number. Isn't that weird?! I guess I got spoiled after steadily losing 1 - 2 lbs per week for a solid 6 months.

I am getting plenty of protein every day. My calories are usually between 1100 - 1400...well within the range for losing. I stay away from as much processed junk as I can. I do still allow myself a few pieces of dark chocolate per week, or a low fat ice cream here and there, but I honestly do not overdo it. One thing I definitely need to do is increase my activity, which I have committed to starting this week.

Any other advice you can share? I met with my nutritionist a couple of weeks ago and she said everything looks good - I just need to continue plugging away at it.

I know you've already committed yourself to exercise but I think that will be the key to breaking this. I was at a plateau for about 9 months (partly because of my eating) and I've lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks because I amped up my activity. I have a lot more to lose than you at this point and the weight loss will slow as you get smaller, but I think it will definitely help!

You may also want to watch carbs and sodium which can also wreak havoc on weight loss. Good luck...you CAN and WILL break through this ;)

Courage is not always a lion's roar. Sometimes, it is a small voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow.

Maria, thanks for sharing that video. I should definitely track my food carefully for the next few days and see what I can identify.

Ugh...the dreaded EXERCISE! I know it needs to be done. Even if it's just a 20 minute walk, my goal for this week is to do SOMETHING active every day.

You can't go back and make a brand new start, but you can start from now and make a brand new end.

Hate it too! And I have to admit...........that is where I am least compliant. :-(

I'm in NYC this wk. though and have done a lot more walking. It's nice to be able to do it and not tire out as easily as I used to!

Good luck!

i  know the "scary" feeling...i just posted bout it!

my nutritionist always tells me that EXERCISE is the key.

Gotta burn more than you take in....

Could be you need to adjust your calorie intake by just 100 calories a day...and add some steps into your day.....

What do you think?

Adding exercise is essential. I know that will help.

Looking back at my menus for the last few weeks, I also think I need to reduce my fat intake.
