Liquid Diet Questions

I'm the new kid on the block....went to the Dr. a couple of days ago, and am already scheduled for Lap Band NEXT WEEK  (4/22/11)!  I am so glad that I found this site!  I need to be on a liquid diet for two days prior to my surgery.  Are there any good protien shakes that i can find at Wal-Mart or Target?  I don't have time to order anything online.  Wow--this is happening fast!!  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Walmart carries EAS protein that isn't too bad. I believe there is a low carb Carnation Instant Breakfast, too. Some just use the regular. You might call your nut to see if they recommend something. I am not fond of any of it, but you can do anything for a while, right? Before surgery you don't really have to have protein supplements, just after, so you could do soups, jello, etc. for now. I would go ahead and order online for what you want after surgery, they all ship quickly. I loved Unjury Chicken soup because it seemed better than something sweet after surgery, plus having something hot seemed more comforting. Even now I add it to things to boost protein, like if I am already having soup. Congrats and good luck.

Spend extra time here to learn as much as you can about the whole process and expectations, etc. Ask lots of questions. We are always glad to help out. Sue

Wow, thanks Sue!  I plan on spending a-lot of time reading on here this weekend! 

I've found that I like "Nectar" protein powder, Caribbean Cooler. I mix mine with Crystal lite, Lemonade and about 6 frozen strawberries in a blender. It tastes awesome!! I haven't tried any others, but heard that the Lean Desserts are good too. I didn't want to order online either....I found mine at Super Supplements. They had a whole wall of protein powders to choose from.

Are you sure its just a liquid diet and a 2 day bowel prep. Which is clear liquid for 2days prior to surgery??? Im having surgery on may 10th and I have to do a 14day liquid diet, thats when I drink the protein shakes and etc. But I also have to start a 2day bowel prep, 2days before surgery, which consist of the clear liquids and cleaning out the bowel...

Lynn,  I have my orders in writing-- 2 days prior is to be a liquid diet, and 2 weeks AFTER surgery will be a liquid diet.  The 2 day prior isn't very strict, but, obviously, the 2 week after is when I will have the protein shakes. 

Oh okay. Thats great that you don't have to do what Im doing. Im glad that you are starting your journey and GOOD LUCK!!!!
 Please keep us posted, you know we are newbies (LMBO)  I have been able to learn soo much on this OH...
