Anyone STRUGGLING to QUIT SMOKING?
I hear ya hon, I smoked right up until the day the doc told me I had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD! It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphasema, not a nice disease to say the least. Even knowing I had this it was still HELL quiting, I used Zyban to help quit, it calmed my nerves enough so that I was (after several attempts) able to quit. The first year or two was rough, I still wanted to smoke because I found it enjoyable. That was 12 years ago, I'm still smoke free but it still tempts me now and then. Now I can barely walk from the house to the car (maybe 20 ft.) and I'm gasping for air, can't exercise because I can't begin to breath walking and am just in general worn out from lack of oxygen. So do everything you can to be a success, PM me anytime if you want. One thing my hubby always told me when I'd end up smoking again and kicking my butt, he said You haven't failed you just haven't succeeded YET but you will. That's so much better than beating yourself up and kept me from feeling like a failure, so remember that if you slip up. You can do it!

After a little while it started to make me feel sick, I had to chase the pill with a piece of food. It eventually made me throw up. I was driving on my way to the city(NYC) to participate in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I had my last cigarette in the car on the way. It will be 2yrs in Oct. Almost always the smell makes me nausea but there is an occassional liking of the smell since my husband still smokes. But I just tell myself that I know if I have just one that will be it. I will go back and I don't want that. My first step to a healthier life was getting rid of cigarette's, next up is my WLS. You had your first step with WLS now its time to give up the smokes. I know its hard just to see other people doing it, because its like why can't I? lol But in the end we will live longer. ;-)
