Fluid removed from Band
I just wanted to ask this question. I went to the doctor last week. My surgery is about 2 1/2 years old. I have lost 51 lbs. I thought I was going to get a fill because I had been getting hungry between meals. When he told me to drink the fluid to see if it was ok he told me that he was going to remove all the fluid and start over. He said the my esophagus wasn't doing something. I'm not sure. He told me to watch what I eat and come back in 6 weeks and he would begin adding fluid again. My band is still in tact it hasn't slipped or anything but I'm not sure as to what happened. He explained it to me but I was so shocked I wasn't listening too well. Has anyone had this happen? Thanks!

How about you call the office, and tell them that you are a little distracted by the unfill -- and want a better clarification of your diagnosis?
You have a right to understand exactly that has been detected -- and to do some research about it.
You may have a 'motility' issue -- where your esophogus has gotten 'lazy' and is not moving food through properly ----- or you may have a prolapse, or 20 other things --- we are not doctors and can't advise you.
Please call and get a clarification --- and spend the 6 weeks following a healthy eating regimine.

I cannot warn you enough right now at this point. DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO EAT RIGHT, EXERCISE and do LOW-CARB. I had the EXACT same problem and had to have revision surgery to get things corrected. My esophagus was the same way. I have gained 45 lbs since October (when my band got unfilled). I'm not trying to scare you or be mean, I'm just trying to help.
