Has anyone tried othre methods of weight loss to go with your band like HCG or Slim genics? Or how about the South Beach or Weigh****cher diet?  Anyone had any success?

I did WW and it helped with accountability and being weighed weekly .. the support of others trying to lose weight but I still follow my doctor rules over WW

What worked for me is following my doctors plan ... eating protein first, veggies, fruit, complex carbs.. I keep a daily log of what I consume and I exercise.

That's it... sounds simple some days it is other days NOT so much..

I think WW is great because it's about making good choices but the other ones you mentioned are "fad" diets to me ... not so much South Beach because it's low carb diet where you slowly add complex carbs back which is also a good plan.. but we need to make changes now we approach food..

When I had lap band I decieded to give up the YO Yo dieting... I eat today how I plan to eat for the rest of my life... I'm done with the YO YO.. but as individuals we need to find whats best for us.. we all have different paths.. mine includes a array of food others might not consume.... to each their own..

I follow what my Nut has given me to follow.  Other than places like WW because of the fellowship and accountability, the other diets like South Beach are fad diets.  I like my Nut's well rounded meal plan.  I actually worked with her to create several meal plans that I rotate.  I like my my nut's plan also because she advocates homemade meals and organic food.  She explained with store bought prepackaged food I can't control things like salt and sugar and carbs that are going into the meal.  I'd say forget about those diets because they didn't work for most of us before our surgery.  Also as I have gained more confidence in my food choices I have branched out and created some of my own meals and creating my own meal plans.

I attend WW (have since about 6 weeks post op) but did not really follow their plan until I hit maintenance.

They offered me too many points-plus values for most of my weight loss journey.

I use them for accountability, support and education -- I followed my doctor's orders for an eating plan while I was losing.

3 oz protein
1/2 cup veggie/fruit
small amount of whole grains

low-fat dairy

Broken up like this ---
3 meals -- approx 250 - 300 calories each, 2-3 snacks about 100 calories each
64+ ounces of calorie-free liquids a day
60+ grams of protein per day

I've been screwing around and screwing up for over a year, and maged to regain 20 pounds.  I  went back to Weigh****chers for some external structure. I have to say I am loving it.  The new program's emphasis on protein and fiber is  forcing me to eat the way a bandster should, and I find that when I eat right the band works and the cravings are gone.  I've lost six pounds in the past four weeks, without a moment of suffering.

I joined WW in January to help me lose the weight I gained over the holidays.  Now that's gone and I'm working on the 30 lbs I have to go to get to my goal weight.

I like the accountability of the weekly weigh in and I also respond well to praise!  Give me a bravo star and I'm happy!

I use their diet as a guideline, but still count calories and protein because the protein is critical to a good, healthy bandster diet.

I also like their online tool.  Good recipes and articles.

I joined ww but had to quit because I couldn't eat all my points. In other words I was eating enough to use all the points. So just sticking to my NUT's advise..
