Throwing up question
are you still sliming?? Is water going down?? If you cannot drink water, you may need help. If you can drink water, you are probably ok...just have liquids only for the next 24-48 hours to give your tummy a rest...
remember to chew, chew, chew.
I always drink about 32 oz of water between dinner and an hour before bedtime, just to flush everything out of my pouch for the night.

By foamies do you mean you PBed (brought food back up)? That sounds like just playing with words but I am trying to understand just what happened to you - the word foamies is one that is not usually used by bandsters and so i may not be getting the meaning right!
A PB is a bit odd, so long after eating? DId you get discomfort after you ate?
Have you been drinking enough? Lettuce can be a bit fibrous and so I suppose it is possible some just did not get washed through with other food and liquids.
As long as you are able to take liquids with no problems, thenIMO it is OK to wait to see the doc but if that becoems difficult - don't wait!

Hi Kate. I enjoy your posts, you are very infomative. I'm almost 6 weeks post op and still learning alot of terminology on this mssg board. I have a question...what is the meaning of "PBed". I"ve seen it used several times and would like to know. Guess it's a good thing that I dont know personally, right? THanks for your help. Lucky for me, I've had no complications what so ever so far. I only experience some constipation, do you have any advice for that. And also (sorry...did I say I onl had ONE question? LOL) I had my first fill almost two weeks ago, 3.75 cc in a 10 cc band. I dont' feel alot of restriction, but am able to control portions. I don't think i'm losing though. Not gaining either. I've lost a total of about 30 lbs. Do you think i should get another slight fill, say .5 or 1 cc at my next dr. visit in a bout 2 weeks? I appreciate your opinion.
In the UK we call it "bringing back" and I think that actually explains it better.
If we eat too much, eat too fast or simply eat an unsuitable food, our bodies produce thick saliva ( sliming) in an attempt to help us pass the offending food through for digestion. Unfortunately, our bodies have got this wrong! The last thing a bandster needs is thick mucus on top of an existing problem. So the food may come back up. Sometimes we PB without the preceeding sliming and sometimes we can slime without a PB!
The movement is like vomitting but there is none of the unpleasantness asociated with a normal vomit - no stomach acids are involved and the food is undigested so while we may not want to taste the food on the way down and the way back up, it is not horrendous! And it relieves any discomfort we may have been feeling.
We need to avoid doing this as much as possible as doing it too often can be a contributory factor in band slips.
While losing I had to take added fibre and a stool softener every morning and every evening! Now calories are less important to me, I use prune juice.
Fills - i got a fill if I could eat more tahn i thought i should be doing at a meal and if i got hungry (physical hunger) sooner than a couple of hours post-meal.
