RNY with
May 12th is a very lucky day, its my birthday, lol. Seriously though I am SO HAPPY for you!! If I can offer just the tenniest advice (that I pretty much give all new bandsters). Please be patient in your first couple/ few months. Remember those early weeks are meant for healing and if you lose at the same time its just a bonus. Not everyone will lose a bundle of weight before they reach restriction. Unlike other procedures that work the day you wake up from surgery, the lapband doesn't usually start working for you for the first 3-6 months. Anything you lose in that period is based on you and I think the reason its called bandster hell is because we put such high expectations on ourselves during that time to show results. Best of luck, you must be walking around with a perpetual grin right now :)

Very good advice, Sarah.  Wish I'd had it before my surgery in mid Jan.  I would not have changed anything.  I just might have had a bit more patience with myself, and not felt like I was a failure.  I wish I had found OH 6 months before I did.  I've gotten lots of good ideas and advice on this forum.

Congrats on your date!  What Sarah said is so right on...the post op period is for healing and allowing your band to "settle in" around your stomach.  It is so important to follow your doctor's and nutritionist's instructions for eating, drinking and exercise.  It is "major surgery" regardless of how it is portrayed by many.
Now is a great time to start "babying" your body in a way that you probably never have.  I think of my physical body as needing care in much the same way a newborn does...regular feeding, rest, exercise and lots of love to grow healthy emotionally.  This has been such a positive journey for me, because I finally know how to do this and sustain it!
Best of luck to you on your WLS...you'll be on the "Loser's Bench" before you know it!

Congrats on getting your date~!

If your experience is anything like mine, the time will fly by.  It seems like I waited forever to get a date and, once I got it, it's like it's coming up really quickly.
