No my doc is very very pleased on what I'm doing :o) .   He said as long as I'm doing what I'm doing and losing weight why mess with something that works :o) .

My doc said there are some people that just need the band as a reminder not to eat to much, and not to eat so fast and right now I'm one of them people  .   It's just a reminder to do all them things.

For me being or was being lol 348 pounds I was never a sweets eater,   I have M&M's sitting here on my desktop and I dont touch them, I got about three different boxes of girl scout cookies here I dont touch them , I have different flavored ice cream here and I dont touch it.  I was never a sweets eater before the band so having all that around the house dont bother me at all.  The only time I have to watch myself is when its that time of the month cause I crave sweets for about a 3-4 days before my period.

I was never a snacker either .  Sure I would have a some chips or popcorn here and there but I wouldn't sit down and eat a bag of it , that just isn't me.

I was the type of person that didn't know  how to control food portions. Instead of eating a normal steak , baked potato and veggie I would eat  a 20 oz steak with all the trimmings .   I didn't control my out to eat habit .Fast foods was a killer for me but now I eat that stuff 2 times a month :o)

That is why my doc said I would do so well with the lap band and so far he is right :o)

I have alot of will power, determination, and self control right now .  Hubby always jokes with me that I came out of surgery a much stronger woman then when I went in :o)

I amaze him at my choices now when we do go out to eat because now I get the guilt's of just thinking of ordering a cheeseburger I order something that is better for me :o)

Like Lisa said some people want that kind of restriction that they cant eat certain foods and then there is others that want more control or something like that , Im in that group .  I told the doc before I even had my surgery I want the lapband to help me with portion control not to dictate to me what I can and cant eat . I refuse to live like that. My GF is that way she cant eat this , she cant eat that  or she cant eat breakfast and sorry that is just me and I will never ever be that way .

I tell hubby that my band is my 20,000 dollar reminder to slow down, and to eat my foods in moderation because that is all it does right now for me and that is all I needed for it to do :o)

Well I just had my band emptied for this very reason. Even tho I kept it on the loose side I couldn't eat bread, pastas, rice, most meats and many veggies. Also soda caused way too much gas, thought I'd die! A doc told me that 20% of people are like myself they can't tolerate the band and can never get to a good restrictionm level. Myself I would not suggest the band to anyone. It may work for many but when it doesn't you end up frustrated and feeling like a failure because you couldn't make it work. Personnaly I would suggest the sleeve, it does what the band is supposed to but doesn't have malabsorption like the RNY. Good luck Whateve your decision.

Lap Band on 02/13/06 with
If you go back and read my post, really read my post you will see why I am making such a big deal out the fact that I cant eat ice cream...ice cream should be one of the easiest thing for a bander to eat.  Each person with the band will be different.  However there will be changes that you will have to make in order to be successfull and if you dont think you will be able to do it, then you may want to rethink the surgery.

I wont sugar coat it....unless you are willing to make changes and accept that there very well may be something you cant eat with the band and it could very well be pizza.  Good luck with what ever you decide

Keep in mind that the band is very much a crap shoot! Works for some. For most............it does NOT work long term! For many it doesn't even work short term.

I would not recommend the band to my worst enemy.

You might want to read what a bandster posted earler tonight. SHE IS NOW ON HER FOURTH BAND SURGERY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you rolled snake eyes or 12...most bandsters are more towards the middle of the pack...

Dice Roll Possible Dice Combinations
2 1-1
3 1-2, 2-1
4 1-3, 2-2, 3-1
5 1-4, 2-3, 3-2, 4-1
6 1-5, 2-4, 3-3, 4-2, 5-1
7 1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2, 6-1
8 2-6, 3-5, 4-4, 5-3, 6-2
9 3-6, 4-5, 5-4, 6-3
10 4-6, 5-5, 6-4
11 5-6, 6-5
12 6-6
So I guess crap shoot is not a bad analogy after all!  My FIL (almost 90 birthdate 7-11-21) is a great crapshooter and always walks away from the table a winner...
I'll take the odds illustrated above...
