Another ? About the Coughing...thoughts please..

Well I think I've figured it out. (coughing for past several weeks)

I am probably a smidgen to tight.  The past two days I have paid close attention to my coughing.

I notice during the night and in the morning I do not cough.  But as soon as I eat, the coughing starts.

I'm not looking forward to a two hour drive but it's better than a slip band.

I can't help but wonder if I lose a little more weight,(finally on a roll again) if it would correct itself.

Thoughts on that?

Having been just a smidgen too tight twice, I'd say don't wait. The coughing is a warning sign for you. You may need as little as a .2 (that's what I got last time) and it will make a HUGE difference. As soon as the doctor took a small amount out, the pressure in my chest was gone! Two hour drive for an unfill or a few days stay in the hospital to have your band removed?

Good luck!

losing weight won't correct a slip, a slight or complete unfill "might".

I did call the dr. back and stressed my concern but the first avail. appt is the 25th.(I'll keep calling for cancellation)  I knew losing weight wouldn't help a slip, but I was hoping weight loss would loosen restriction some.

I've been lucky to have not had any problems.  Once I was a little tight but I knew immediately because I couldn't eat the same foods anymore.   This time I can still eat salmon, beef, etc. with no problems.

Thanks for responding.

Coughing with the Band (band induced - from being too tight or maybe a esophageal dilation) simply = TROUBLE.
See your doc ASAP!

gosh not till the 25th that is a long time to wait imo.  I would think that your doc would want to see you asap not make you wait for available appt.  Mine is whenever you have problems we will get you in.

Coughing means reflux, which means the band is too tight.  Its that simple. Its also potentially dangerous to your band, your esophagus, and your lungs.

Consider some OTC Prilosec or the equivalent if you aren't already using some, until you can get in for an unfill.  Do some reading about reflux and see if any other recommendations help. In my experience, nothing works but an unfill.

I don't really have the symptoms of reflux though. Strange. Tonight I had roast and I can keep it down but I do feel a heaviness on my chest. It's funny you mention the lungs. I told my husband that my lungs feel heavy.(and I was sick 2-3 weeks ago)

Keeping fingers crossed for cancellation. Thanks for responding.
