I'm not a medicine taker but decided I would try prilosec(issue going on) but man, those are horse pills!

Just curious.

Some can take any pills, some can take them if small enough or cut. Some can't take even the tiniest! I am in the last group adn have to take everything cut, crushed, dissolved.

It has nothing to do with restriction levels - I am not and never have been too tight. i can eat all foods without problem - but not even tiny pills. They just dissolve above my band which can be damaging to the tissue.

I don't know US brands but most things in teh UK come in chewable of liquid forms.

I've been taking prescription Prilosec (Omperazole) since the surgery and they are capsules.  I'm able to swallow them without a problem.  Maybe talk to your doc about the prescription version?

Is it a capsule?  I would call the pharmacy if it is and see if it's okay to open up and put in some applesauce or yogurt.  I don't take big pills just to be careful.

Sorry Kristi, just saw your post.  And thanks for replying.

It is capsule form.  Again, never been a medicine taker so I didn't realize that you can open a capsule...

I also take the generic Omeprozole.  It's a small oval pill.  No problem for me.  Capsules are tricky becasue the gel cap tends to stick.

I get mine at Costco but other drug stores carry it.

Best~

I don't find Prilosec or Prevacid to be difficult to take at all.  In fact, the ones I take are tiny pills.  I'm confused that you find them to be "horse pills".

And I'm not using the generic either.. I have manufacturers coupons that bring them down to cheaper than the generic for the little bit I use (only occassionally.. I don't need them every night).

try the strategies already mentioned.. see if they can be opened and put into applesauce or such.  If that won't work, you may need to drink a cup of hot tea or coffee before attempting large pills.

Best of luck to you.

Yeh, the prescription kind are bigger.   My co-worker takes nexium and those are a lot smaller as well.

I've done fine though, they're going down.  And I'm feeling much better.
