I live in Las Vegas, and believe it or not, it's very easy to eat out (although I'd stay away from the buffets mostly because you can't possibly make it cost-effective LOL!, and some of them are quite expensive).  When I eat out, I generally go for the appetizer section of the menu, and get something I can share with my husband.   This is something I'd do anywhere, not just in Vegas.  And there's so much to do other than eat, so just enjoy your trip and have a great time.

I was just there and i found something to eat almost everywhere (except Dicks last resort in Excaliber).  I had shrimp ****tail, mash potatoes, beans (not all at the same time).  I agree with the previous poster, just get an appetizer or just pick off your husbands plate since you don't eat much.  Believe it or not, I only spent $40 because I couldn't really eat or drink so I did a little gambling.  Have fun!!!

I went to Vegas in the middle of my PRE-OP diet and stuck to it!  I'll have to say I was proud of myself!

I took my ninja and my protein powder so I could make my shakes in the hotel room.  I had to argue with management at a few of the buffets because they didn't want to let me in with my family unless I paid the lunch or dinner price.  I went to these buffets with my "better than buillion" in hand, some tea bags and sf jello.  They finally let me in their dining room, but we were strategically seated very near the cash register!  They kept an eye on me the whole time.  The waiter brought me water and ho****er for my tea and broth.

I was going to just sit in the hotel when my family went out for meals, but I'm really glad that I included myself and didn't miss a thing with them.  I went to my 2 week post-op appointment on Tuesday and my NUT gave me a laminated card that I could carry with me which shows my doctor's name, information indicating that I've had WLS and that I can no longer eat an adult-sized meal.  The card asks that the restaurant honor it with a child-sized serving or 1/2 of an adult portion.  My NUT also said that places like Golden Corral honors the card and will only charge $3 or $4 to eat at their buffet!  Gee, I wish I had the card when I was in Vegas.  Sure would have prevented some heated discussions with restaurant managers!!!

Good luck!!  (with food and gambling!!)

I've been to Vegas three times since my surgery and have never had any problem with eating. The only buffets we did were the breakfast buffet at Main Street Station and, for 6 bucks or whatever minor cost it was, it was well worth it.

There are SOOOOO many options of places to eat that you don't have to rely on buffets. There are several people on here who are from Las Vegas, and I'm sure they can give you some tips.

I'm flying out to Vegas on the 18th for a few days as well. Also for work but I'll have some free time too.

My first thought was where and what will I eat? I just kept thinking about all the places with a buffet and how it would be such a waste of money. I have been to Vegas many times though and know there are many options. I will be fine.

Anyone have any good places in mind though?
