Hello ~ I was banded in Aug of 2010 ... My band is now at full to max of 11cc, But I'm never full and can eat anything. I never drink while eating and follow the rules but its not working. I am a B.O.B I have lost  weight but nothing like what I need to. Are there any B.O.B out there that can give me help with maybe ideas and things that worked for you .

Thank You

Hi, I am not a BOB but I am unique...or at least my doctor believe this.  to have a optimal fill level, I have to be fill over the recommended level of my band.  I have the 4 cc and before, my fill level was 4.8.  I never been too tight, never had reflux, never had to be unfilled due to complication.  My doctor told me I was one of the few that did not have a lot of fat around my stomach and need more to get me where I need to be.  Right now I am 4.2 cc and due to having these braces on my teeth, I am going to ride it out and see what 4.2 cc do for me.

I have to ask ....what does B.O.B. mean?

I know someone personally that is filled to the max and can eat anything, just like you.  She told me the surgeon said there is nothing more he can do for her.  I guess that would be true...I mean what could he do?  Other than a revision.  I think unfortunately you will lose weight the old-fashion way (which I know we all suck at) or a revision.  I have heard that the band can be over filled a little bit...but I don't know if that's completely safe.  I could be wrong, maybe someone has personal experience instead of second hand information.

I'm very sorry and I hope things will work out for you soon.

I am sorry you are having so much trouble. Though I can't speak as one familiar to BOB, I do know that just because you have reached the "maximum" the band can hold more fluid. Talk to your doctor about this. The band is not going to make you feel full. It will simply keep you from having hunger pains after eating about 4 oz. dense protein and some veggies and perhaps a grain. You should be able to go 3-5 hours. If you need a snack between, have one. Many people will say that they have never have felt "full". Part of that is head hunger, too. You may already have known this but if not it may help. Good luck, Sue

I have seen quite a few people on here who were filled beyond the official capacity. Apparently the stated amount does not always allow for saline in the tubing.  Don't know if that is true!

Are you starting all meals with dense protein?

Hi - I'm a BoBer too but only have .55cc in my 10cc band done on 12-30-10 - I am a slow loser (around 35 lbs up & down a few right now) and I probably eat more than I should at certain meals, but I also don't feel restriction when eating, but I do feel full, so I need to learn to work with that in how I plan my meals and what I eat.  I find the band to be a lot of trial and error as you go along, but I am glad I got it as it has helped me to lose 35 lbs so far, not gain that much or more, and has helped me to really work on not eating 4 candy bars a day (like I was before the band), a lot of bread, candies, cookies, etc.  I eat a lot of salads now with Tuna, I love Progresso soups with extra green beans & shredded cheese (the light version is low in calore - I can eat the whole can as there really isn't much substance in them + I drain off the majority of the "soup" portion) and stuff like that...I have had a few episodes of binging since the band, but they are quite infrequent compared to how I "behaved" prior.  I figured if I was going to go through another surgery and get that second chance, I needed to work harder.  Sugar Free Popsicles are a mainstay in my home along with s/f jello pudding (they have great flavors now) and I LOVE having an apple at night - never would have picked up one of those before, but I actually crave them and enjoy eating them for a snack bet dinner and bedtime.  Am waiting a few weeks before I see if another fill is in order as I am losing, slowly, and as long as I am losing, doc is happy.  But I do have room to "grow" in my band, if and when it is needed.  Good advise from the others was to see if your surgeon will fill you beyond capacity as it appears this happens quite often.  Good luck to you.  Also, I don't chew chew chew my food and I know that I should - get into the practice of this - but old habits die hard and I really need to work on this each and every day as I don't want to do anything to "harm" the band...I would like it to work there for a very long time to come...

Hi Sapphire,
Do you mean 5.5cc's or truly .55, (less than 1cc in a 10cc band?

Just curious because I've seen you post .55 twice now in different posts so I'm thinking it's not a typo.

Thanks,
Lisa O.
