Moving from a standstill
I wrote an e-mail today to a fellow bandster about how I deal with my plateaus... if only I could follow my own advice these days.
I need to follow my rules...
1. Analyze my habits
2. Decide what needs to be changed
3. Plan small adjustments
4. ACT
5. Don't OVERDO any of the steps above
I need to exercise... what's the first POSSIBLE step I can take? Go to the gym down the street and sign up. Go take a walk to the nearby park. Stop being lazy.

When I finally got off my butt and exercised I went all the way...I went to the gym. I had friends that were coming too so that really helped. But nothing like walking into a gym full of people running on treadmills and sweating on elliptical that inspires you. Going to the gym gave me my first athletic goal in my entire life...I want to run. I would like to eventually run a 5K. I don't know if I would have gotten the motivation to do this walking in the park. I think being around like-minded people helps you with your own goals.
Also, you need to include weight lifting in your routine. It's very important to losing weight and keeping it off.

When I first started...I parked as far from the door as possible, knowing that when I walk to..I would have to walk back..then I started with my bus ride, I would walk to the next bus stop not in front of my house and get off at that bus stop. I did this until I was able to do more even before I had surgery. Small steps leads to bigger steps.
Tina, I so feel your pain. The funny thing we are at almost the same point in our travels. I was banded in July, you in Oct. But I also have hit a plateu . It has been driing me nuts!! The doctor said add a few calories, that didn't work. The dr. then said restrict carbs, that didn't work. I was already working out. My daughter and I strated walking her two big dogs for an hour every morning. I think I am finally budging. I lost 2.6 last week and hopefully it is still moving this week. Hang in there and let me know how it goes.
