So I'm just now 3 weeks post op and I'm trying really hard to keep to my calories of 1200 and exercise. However sometimes I find myself buried into a bag of something I shouldn't eat...

Will it be better when my band is filled? I'm just so hungry... :( I've only cheated twice now since I started this whole thing back in Feb...but I feel like a failure.

Back away from the cookies! (Best cop on a loudspeaker voice)

You aren't a failure - the Best advice - get rid of the goodies you shouldn't eat and replace with alternate goodies.

Ex: I love love ice cream and like like fudgesicles.  So I buy the sugar free fudgesicles for those cheating moments.  Or, I love love potato chips and like like trader joes soy chips...soo I get those instead of the bad guys.  Also, make sure you count out serving sizes ( I usually like to halve them)

Another thing, I am weakest in will power at 4pm so I make sure I have alternate plans other than coming home and hanging out with my head in the fridge.  The head hunger doesn't go away even with a fill.  You have to figure out a strategy to beat it.

Hang in there!

FIrst off, stop beating yourself up.  guilt breeds guilt, so give ourself a big hug for being brave enough to get this surgery in the first place.  Then, next, give yourself permission to take care of you the way you deserve to be taken care of.  I have found that planning my meals the night before, and journaling it, make me be more responsible, and I have my meals and snacks planned and packed, that way, i look forward to each one and dont have to worry about making  snap choices when the best things for me might not be within reach.  YOU deserve to be pampered and during this phase and ALL phases of WLS, we need to pamper ourselves with good well planned and portioned nutritious food.  I have found great suggestions on a website called theworldaccordingtoeggface.com and I have enjoyed bariatriceating.com.  otherwise called BE.  BE has more meal/snack suggestions using normal day to day things that one usually has at home.  But, buying my special nutrutious foods at the market now, is my time to pamper me.  Try if you can to turn this into a positive experience and I promisd you, it will become fun, adn your band will be your best friend.  I pack my lunch bag each morning complete with cute napkins, small forks, spoons, babybel cheese, laughing cow cheese, hummus, boiled eggs, lettuce/turkey/cheese roll up w. dijon mustard for dipping, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.  The choices are endless, so get creative,  Buy some really cool small storage containers for your small meals/ and dips.  Make it fun.  I hope these suggestions help you.  YOu are worth it.
